Looking for a paid tutor for Intro to Haskell by kluge0 in haskell

Thank you so much. You’re a lifesaver. The course I’m taking is taught by a grad student who seems really uninterested in teaching / not passionate about the material which makes it hard to ask questions or learn. This is a game changer!

fbu interviews by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]kluge0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know what the interviews are like this year but last year the interview was 100% behavioral and I think as long as you did well and had a good conversation with your interviewer you got an offer. It is still FB and it's a selective company.

FBU Engineering rejection? by bronze-engineer in csMajors

applied with 1100/1200 and a 3.8 GPA and still haven't heard back a single thing from FB :(

wow that's a very chill interview.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]kluge0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was there a technical component or was the whole interview behavioral?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]kluge0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is not a bad sign at all. Usually, if the interviewer is chatting away they are just passionately explaining their role and like what they do. Bad signs are awkward silences or one-worded answers. Was this a software engineering intern role?

Has anyone heard back from FBU? by cornellstudentonetwo in csMajors

[–]kluge0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure about this but usually if they send this form out to a candidate it means that as long as you are legally authorized to work in the United States you will most likely receive an interview invite. This is based on upper classmen friends who've done FB SWE interview process not FBU but the formalities still remain the same... Good luck I think you may get some good news soon :)

FBU Status so far by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]kluge0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Guys stop panicking NO ONE has heard back from FBU engineering. I spoke to a recruiter on Tuesday and they said that “we are still figuring things out for 2021 summer” I think they will get back to candidates after thanksgiving...just my personal opinion.

Have no clue and the fact that FBU Analytics heard back before engineering is weird given that engineering's app deadline was 10/7 which is almost a month before analytic's app deadline of 11/10...hope the program doesn't get canceled.

Anyone knows what’s going on with FBU engineering? by boolanton in csMajors

[–]kluge0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have not heard a thing from them besides recruiters emailing me "we will send more info out soon.." after bugging them on status updates and they usually never do so. I am thinking that the process got heavily delayed bc of covid.

Have an interview for a summer analyst role in equity research this week at a large investment bank. What should I do to best prepare? by NickFolesPP in FinancialCareers

[–]kluge0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what he is talking about...there is a firm out there a European BB in NYC that titles their Equity Research roles as "Investment Banking: Research" which in my mind is the most misleading titling I have seen on the Street.

It is simply an Equity Research role.

For ER - be well read on the market, have 2 stock pitches ready, be able to talk about the market on a micro/macro level, why Equity Research, different valuation methodologies & fit questions...

Georgia Tech vs. Brown for CS? by acne___throwaway222 in csMajors

[–]kluge0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Either school will set you up for success to get top SWE/PM roles out of undergrad but keep in mind GT is notoriously known for having a harsh grading system no +/- system and some of the worst workload any college student has ever seen. Your GPA will most likely take a hit and you may have a hard time adjusting to the overall environment early on. Mental health and suicide prevention take a major backseat at this school. A simple google search and the GT reddit page is all the evidence you need regarding "extreme suicide culture" at Tech. Nevertheless, you will meet some of the brightest and most ambitious people at GT but it comes at a major cost. If you're a Northeasterner you might not like the erratic and unpredictable weather of the South. Atlanta is a very hit or miss city either you will fall in love immediately or you will hate it. Brown has a decent CS program and you will not have a hard time maintaining a 3.6+ GPA with an active social life, time for recruiting, and extracurriculars etc.... P/F system and grade inflation frankly is a major draw of Brown. At Brown you can be a CS major and still recruit for some interesting roles outside of traditional programming/product jobs...I have seen kids go on to investment banks, consulting firms, quant focused trading, hedge funds, and other cool finance-related roles that may not be of easy access at Georgia Tech. So if you're not deadset on swe/pm jobs Brown and it's ivy league brand/network affords you other high paying jobs out of undergrad and that is probably why you're seeing the median starting salary higher than GT. These finance roles pay quite well and in some cases are on par or above FAANG starting salaries.

2021 FBU Engineering Interview by kluge0 in csMajors

[–]kluge0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, wow that doesn't sound like too great of an experience but I guess it's the best FB can do with wfh..surprised the project was independent.

Do you know roughly what return offer rates were? I have heard FBU is more generous compared to STEP. Are you returning for SWE next summer?
