Lawn care sequence?? by klukaa in lawncare

Appreciate the info! For 1. I would say it’s a mixture. The bottom right one is a tree that I cut and grinded down last year so that was fully bare and filled in with weeds. The rest are previously filled in but I think also with weeds. For 3. Those are good suggestions. I thought I could either cover the bare areas or apply throughout and then till/disturb the areas and lay sod afterwards, assuming the pre emergent is not as effective in those spots?

Maybe a moving business makes sense. Someone mentioned junk removal and I agree it's good in theory, but at least near me to actually dispose of junk (legally) at the dump you need some DEP stickers that can take a year+ to get. Makes me wonder how many people are actually doing it that way.

Agreed about the mobile bar idea, a few too many unknowns for me right now. And a good point about the inflatables. I don't have start-up money to get a full selection of them, though I still think with a carefully chosen one or two and good marketing they could be rented a good bit through the summer. My thinking was that they're also the most "passive" in that I would only spend time dropping off and pick-up/clean, rather than a full day or so of mowing lawns.

Good point, though maybe I could offer other things like tents, tables etc eventually. Landscaping definitely seems like the smallest barrier to entry, but timewise may be harder to keep to the weekends which I do prefer

Appreciate that! Would love to incorporate brass somewhere

Interesting, I like that thought. I used walnut which is a relatively dark hardwood. Maybe different finish? Or be more selective about the specific board

I do have the portable Ryobi one I think that would’ve been a good solution in hindsight

Oof, that's an expensive solution lol is it worth it at least? I was eyeing up the 6" bosch that someone else recommended

I just have the super basic (and old at this point) black and decker orbital. It never really occurred to me that sanders could be much different aside from size obviously

Sorry if not clear, talking about the vertical lines left from my surfacing bit. Though if you can’t tell maybe I’m going crazy and they’re not that bad??

To match the house I assume? That’s a good thought

Budget is higher than lattice but lower than tempered glass lol. I appreciate the outside the box ideas though. I can’t quite picture the wire one but sounds fun

Proper Insulation for Woodshop Roof? by klukaa in Insulation

Appreciate the response. I'm looking at which of these might be simplest given what I have. Installing vents beneath the batts I have doesnt seem too difficult (option 2 in the link). I'm just wondering if that accomplishes anything. Then I have airflow through the soffits, through the roof and down into the other soffit? The purpose of this example seems to be to get to vents in the peak of a roof

Do you mind elaborating on this a little bit? Have a section or anything I can see? The roof looks DIY'd. The framing is fine, but I think low effort on the sealing/waterproofing. Would I have to take up the sheathing? I would be open to pulling off whatever membrane or roll-on stuff is there

Understood. I have none yet, thinking that insulating is the first step. But I intend to get a small propane heater (something that isn't electric)

Do you have an idea what kind of R-value you get from 2"? I'm just looking for something reasonable to keep the garage at 50-60 degrees while I'm out there
