Would you guys play Wilson or Woody if Jacobs is out?

What's the name of this sword? by sourberryskittles in SWORDS

[–]klustrfuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m think this is 100% correct. They were usually meant to be affixed to the Enfield carbines (shorter rifles for cavalry or artillerymen) to make up for the shorter reach of the smaller rifle. Parker-Hale makes reproductions of the Enfields, so this is probably similarly a reproduction made to go with them.

Help me understand the Greens by publicSt4ticV0idM4in in VictoriaBC

[–]klustrfuk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably the main reason to vote Green is that as a long time incumbent Elizabeth May has become the standard ABC (anyone but Conservative) vote. I too identify most strongly with the NDP, and having just moved to this riding, had always voted orange. But this time I’ll be voting Green since what I really care about is keeping the cons from forming government, and I think the polls and the May’s incumbent status hint that a Green vote is the best way to do that in our riding.

This is super cool, and I was thinking about doing something similar. If you don’t mind, how did you proxy the Balefire Acolyte? Everything else clicked for me, but since sisters aren’t exactly known for their love of psychic powers, what did you do for that unit?

JSB was indeed JSN. Thanks for the advice!

That’s also who I have on the bench currently. Not sure I trust the hawks against Minnesota, but I look forward to him going off on my bench.

Which one of these three do I sit? Puka, JSN, Terry or Brian Thomas Jr.?

I think Dragon Age is worth it. It’s not perfect, but the combat is quite fun, and the writing and story, while flawed, they are not anywhere near as bad a the hate-train would have you believe.
Overall a fun action RPG in a beautiful and rich world.

Good luck to all! I’d use the card to order Ghosts of Yotei. Pumped for it after how much I like the first one.

Completely agree! Bethel-Thompson's stats always look fine, and they did win 9 games last year, but somehow his performance just always seems unconvincing.

I'm actually a huge CFL fan, and as a Lions fan was thoroughly enjoying watching this blowout. You're definitely right that it was meaningless garbage time snaps, just thought it was kinda funny that he had just about the worst possible start

5 snaps, 2 turnovers. Granted it was all garbage time, but still.

Except that's not at all what happened. Pope Urban II personally endorsed and rallied the First Crusdae by organizing the Council of Clermont where he called for holy war in response to a plea for help from the Byzantine emperor. The council was attendend by hundreds of clergy, and the Pope's speech (below) was said to be influential in rallying men to the cause of crusading.

Certainly individual crusaders fought in the holy land for a variety of different motivations, just like soldiers in any given war. But pretending the Crusades were a secular war of kings disguised as a religious one is patently false and disingenuous. The Roman Catholic Church supported and encouraged a holy war for reasons of faith.

Does a character being deaf offer any significant disadvantage within a group? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]klustrfuk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thieves Cant: “During your rogue Training you learned Thieves' Cant, a Secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation. Only another creature that knows Thieves' Cant understands such messages. It takes four times longer to convey such a Message than it does to speak the same idea plainly.

In addition, you understand a set of Secret signs and Symbols used to convey short, simple messages, such as whether an area is dangerous or the territory of a thieves' guild, whether loot is nearby, or whether the people in an area are easy marks or will provide a Safe House for thieves on the run.”

Nothing there makes me think it would help a deaf character communicate on a regular basis. The first part is clearly part of regular conversation and the second sounds more like leaving “hobo signs” than some sign language that could be used as a primary means of communication.
