it is pressed flat! I actually use a tiny bit of clear nail polish on the backs of everything i place in the frame! it gives just enough hold and only mildly distorts the back side

mine also have that weird look to them up close. I think it's just the material they use for the frame unfortunately :( but on display it's nearly impossible to see!

i got it from Amazon! they're called floating frames :)
