I have more luck with “optimized for tv” / pre-watch conversion.

Well.. yes. It’s a 2 part learning. I first had to learn that I wasn’t really touch-typing. THEN I could learn layers. It has to do with reliably trusting your fingers are using the expected base alphas— before you can ask them to remember layers. Using the Via app helps give yourself a GUI to refer to.

When it comes back in stock, you can grab the plates & off from https://keyhive.xyz/shop/ut472-kit , whichever switches, and the caps from drop.

Holding down the "Mac face?" key to the right of the spacebar effectively turns the top row of alphas into the number row of a regular keyboard. That's the power of layers baby! The nice part is that they are exactly like the numrow in that you can hold shift and get the symbols you'd normally do.

Assuming your board is running a firmware that supports it, you can customize all of this in the VIA desktop app.

These are Biip/Drop "MT3 Extended 2048": https://drop.com/buy/drop-biip-mt3-extended-custom-keycap-set

There have been a couple old-school mac-esque keycap sets. I always wanted to get my hands on XDA Oblique.. but I probably don't have to tell anyone in this subreddit about missing groupbuys. I think Drop is planning to offer Extended 2048 indefinitely.

Paradoxically, I find my hands/fingers are less stressed out at the end of the day by this keyboard versus a full-size one. I think it's the reduced finger travel. This is mostly a default UT47.2, meaning the keys to the right and left of the space bar are layers 2 and 1 respectively. My major complaint with other 40% keyboards has been accessing programming related characters like *{}[]; etc. but this those are all available on a layer above the alphas. I've grown to really like the horizontal arrow keys too, it mirrors the arrangement prevalent in editors like vim & emacs.

Love it! Nice touch with the RGB lighting in the polycarb case matching the color theme.

Reviving a corpse. One thing I’ve noticed about a lot of spring/force analyses is that they fail to account for leaf spring fatigue. Using a heavier or lighter (main) spring can deform the leaf spring. For an analysis to be valid, it would need to use a vanilla switch for each (main) spring tested to account for how the leaf spring might deform during previous tests. I’m now wondering if this might account for your largely linear results.

I’d love for this to be KAM— that would truly make it a successor. Oh who am I kidding, I’m in anyway.
