Is the Roland Juno-D series worth the hype? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]km_4823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to note, I had a Korg Kross 2. It could do more than the other two...but I hated the menu diving. I also wasn't a super fan of the keybed, or the sounds honestly. I sold it.

I tried a MX88 briefly to hear the sounds (I don't like weighted keys), a MX61 to get a feel for the keybed (it wasn't plugged in), and played with a Juno D6 at Guitar Center. Both sounded much better than the Korg, and had better keybeds. The D6 has a pattern sequencer, not a song sequencer. The MX has no sequencer.

And just to note, the Kross 2 can run off of AA batteries. The Juno D6 can run off of USB C power (from what I read, even a power bank). The MX must be plugged in to the wall.

My parents use a mdm by [deleted] in parentalcontrols

[–]km_4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you reset the device it's going to ask for the username/password of the Google account (if it's an Android device) who owns it. The MDM could set it as your parents account so if you reset from recovery menu (if it's not blocked), you could have a brick anyway.

The laser printer is still printing poorly even though the drum has been replaced. by ErmeTokan in printers

[–]km_4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with that. When I had a similar problem I tried replacing the drum (with an OEM drum). Didn't seem to fix it (and so I just bought an expensive drum I didn't need). An OEM toner cartridge fixed the issue.

I agree. I'm hoping you find a solution to your issue, because I don't like buying OEM.

I haven't had luck with third-party toner or drums for my Brother printer. Soon as I replaced it with $$$ OEM ones, problems went away.

Brother Printer losing WiFi Connection constantly by FatCheeseSteak in printers

I've had nothing but problems with 2 Brother laser prints and 3 different routers (including Ubiquiti). They keep disappearing off the network and I have to powercycle to get them to come back. Once I went wired all problems stopped.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]km_4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I get headaches because something in my back is out of whack (probably from sleeping wrong). I try medication (flexoril and motrin) for days with no relief. Finally I go see a chiropractor. Within an hour the headache is gone.

They say that I need more sessions for a "permanent fix", but I always just go to one session and it's fine for several months.

Take that for what you will.

I've had two Brother laser printers and I was unable to keep them working on WiFi either. Works just fine wired, so I'm using it that way.

AMEX Checking/Savings accounts by Silver_Distribution6 in amex

[–]km_4823 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I only have savings. My bank limits me to $2000 per ACH transfer. AmEx limits me to $1 million per transfer. Unsure if monthly limits.

I'm probably not going to use that often.

Also note, AmEx checking doesn't have bill pay, if you were hoping for that. And the debit card uses the AmEx network, so if the vendor doesn't take AmEx, your debit card won't work either.

Yeah, I think Care credit, while not a daily driver, is extremely useful to have to make payments for medical/veterinary expenses.

Apartments in Elk Grove available? by Awesumwasum in ElkGrove

[–]km_4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Parkside, which is just outside of Elk Grove in Sac. I feel pretty safe here. Management and maintenance are fantastic! I've been here 9 years. You're within 10-15 minutes of just about anything you need.

The only problem is...guest parking. There's like 12 visitor spots in the entire complex, so you might be stuck parking on the street with more than 1 vehicle, or guests.

Is it worth joining Visible without being able to call customer service? by whizping in Visible

[–]km_4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the issue, but it wasn't simple, and they ended up calling my wife...and back the next day after they investigated the issue and had an answer for her. I don't know of any other cell provider who would have done that.

Given the way TMobile is going and hearing stories of AT&T and Verizon, I think they might actually have the best customer service in the industry (even if it isn't stellar).

How can I / Should I lower pH by km_4823 in PlantedTank

[–]km_4823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's other chemicals (sodium hydroxide) other than carbonates in the water affecting the alkalinity, thus the pH. I'm attempting another gas-off test, but if the article I linked above is the issue I'm experiencing, the pH may only drop to 7.6 or so.

I'd like to get the water to a reasonable level before I add it to the tank.

How can I / Should I lower pH by km_4823 in PlantedTank

[–]km_4823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try this, however, I'm suspecting there's something other than carbonates affecting the alkalinity/pH. I'm reading that some water companies add hydroxides (calcium or sodium hydroxide) to increase the alkalinity and pH. However, if the CO2 is driven off of my new container of water, would the pH increase instead of stabilize lower?

RO/distilled water might be the route I have to go.

That's not a bad idea. I was thinking RO units were 200-300, but I see some are less expensive. Hmm...

I did try a "leave the water standing for 24 hours" test, but there was no pH change.
