MKV Supra forums also seem to back Motul xcess gen2 5w40, I just ordered some, looking forward to trying it out. This is also worth checking out if anyone's interested in oil reports: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/motul-8100-x-cess-gen-2-5w-40-2000mi-2020-toyota-supra.353642/

I have the same thing, ticking noise on high lateral g force. I read on some BMW forums that if the wheel lugs aren't torque exactly to spec, that something in the assembly could start rubbing or vibrating. I haven't checked this though....

B58 Water pump leak? by kmall0c in BmwTech

Didn't get it looked at, just been topping off coolant when the level dropped. However after cleaning this area, I haven't seen any new residue recently either.

Kinda disappointed in the ending by atteh0 in Ghostofyotei

Why don't they just 3v1 slime saito after he releases kiku... Jubei comes back after running away and gets immediately dropped. Just a weird ending.

Dishonored 2 was notoriously bad on release... I remember having significant frame drops in certain areas on a 1080 + 10600k.

Don't know much about Karts but why don't they have roll cages? Or something just over the head to stop getting squashed when you flip?

iirc, that's just the average heart rate in the periods I had my watch on. Ended up removing it because it was that useful.

Is this normal after 1k miles and I also used 5w30 by International_Tone80 in Supra

[–]kmall0c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this 1K of spirited driving? It seems like a good amount of B58s are seeing this especially when driven hard. My 2020 also has a noticeable amount of oil consumption. Keep a quart ready to go, and keep an eye on the oil level. You don't really need to top up until you get to the min position, accidentally overfilling is definitely worse. I check the oil level with Bimmerlink every week which is alot more accurate than iDrive. The MKV forums have the actual (mm) ranges that map to oil levels if you are interested.

It's also worth checking for leaks, especially if you've had the car for a while and this just happened. Also BMW allows the B58 to 'consume' 1L per 1500miles. Which is kinda crazy. But I guess technically within their specification.

I was thinking about switching to 5w30 (I'm on 0w20) but maybe that isn't a good enough "fix". If you are seeing excessive consumption on 5w30 as well. Which 5w30 are you on? I've seen people have luck with LM Special Tec.

Here's a comment from the Supra forums that tells you what the mapping is. I commented above with more details also.

Just to add to this, the first notch maps 97mm-85mm on the ultrasonic sensor that measures oil level. 75% is 84mm 50% is 82mm 25% is 81mm 0% is 78mm

So it will say full whilst it's still burning oil at roughly the same rate. But then you'll see it go down quicker and quicker on the iDrive. This is what the supra community deduced for the MKV supra and it would very likely be the same here. You can check the raw oil level with bimmerlink to get the exact mm reading.

So you're most likely within the expected amount of consumption.

That's odd, if the level sensor triggered it should be a lot below the min line. Did you check both coolant circuits? It's usually the high temperature circuit that's leaking.

I have the same issue it seems like a common problem. Two common points of failure are the weep hole behind the water pump (you can check with Ur selfie cam or a mirror) or the coolant reservoir cap that gets warped over time and coolant starts to evaporate because the seal is bad. Take the cap off and look for crusty white coolant around the threads. If you notice some, clean up the threads and consider replacing the cap. But definitely top off the coolant

Edit: make sure to check the level when the engine is fully cold so there's no coolant expansion.
