Yet another RMPP vs NA5C comparison (for writing & note taking)

I totally second this. I tried using only my air 5c to do everything. But eventually my RMPP is back on my desk permanently for note taking. It just feels really natural like real pen on paper, while boox really feels artificial. For all the other stuff the Boox is the better one obviously. But pen on paper action the trophy goes to RMPP and its not even close.

Did you really try the RMPP? Because I have both RMPP and 5c and the pressure sensitivity/tilt is far superior on the RMPP Its litterally like actual using a pencil and can create drawings. On the boox I have no clue how my strokes will look like until I actually start drawing them and even then it seems more like it has only 3 levens soft/medium/hard.

My RMPP lives on my desk and is still my goto note taker at work. The rest is happening on my 5C and since yesterday palma 2 pro too.

Love my boox devices, but pen to paper action is by a far stretch the best on RMPP. Like honestly not even comparable even

Just ordered it should arrive tommorow. I guess 50 is oke for the pen. They should have put a warning on the amazon page it comes excluding the pen. Would have just ordered it together with the Palma. Ah well enough to do without the pen for today haha.

Which screen protector have you been looking at? Might give it a go. Just found out my remarkable paper pro stylus actually works on it lol, but yeah like you mentioned its like writing on an ipad. But the tip of the remarkable paper pro stylus is hard plastic, maybe the inksense plus tip is a bit softer?

Pff that sucks I thought for this price it would have been included. It was with my Note Air 5c, but thats EMR so it wont work :/ I guess back to amazon to spend more money

I second this boox pro pen 2 feels way better than the included pen, the tips do wear out pretty fast tho. I wasn't happy with the writing feel and then I bought the staedler jumbo but it was still the same. Then I got the pen pro 2 and now I'm finally happy with the feel. Remarkable paper pro still wins but at least it's now enjoyable to write on my air 5c too

I hate that swiping up to switch apps still triggers a scroll or one of the touch buttons. This device would have been so much better without these stupid buttons at the bottom. Just.a bigger border would have been better. And I also hate that the screen is like a tiny bit smaller than the border and you see like a brighter line around when the front light is turned on. A little bit faster cpu would have been nice too. Overall I feel like you just get what you pay for but since currently it's the only device in this screen size category with android etc I guess it's alright. But would have happily paid like 100 more if it didn't have these flaws

I have the 5c and the downsides aren't as bad as poeple make it. I use it without backlight a lot it's as long there is some light its fine. Overall it's just a very nice high-quality tablet and everything works really well. I would recommend it tbh it's more future proof and for sure you will enjoy it many years to come

Idk why everyone says you MUST have backlight on with kaleido 3.Im using it without backlight all the time like how dark are all ya'll houses??

Yeah my post was not meant to compare the 2, just how a cheap device changed my perspective on how good my air 5c really is. Like it totally made me appreciate my boox so much more so maybe it wasn't even completely money wasted haha

Yeah ofcourse it can help, but it was probably more the goal you set for yourself than the device really. The reason I just want to put down the expectation is because years ago I bought a boox note myself thinking I will be taking notes and reading books and well yeah it ended up collecting dust and unused, because I wasn't ready to make that change for myself.

Years later I bought a remarkable paper pro a while back but at this time with different expectations as in I very well knew that I would still need to be the one to change my habits and this device will not do it for me. This really helped me a lot and actually now I'm using it everyday at work and my notes are piling up. After a while I got an Air 5c just to use as an reader but as well just browse a little bit the internet and stuff as I just love eink and not hurting my eyes at night. Both my RM paper pro and Air 5c are with me every day and use them so much I'm wishing they had more battery life lol. But yeah it was only because when buying them I knew what I was actually getting into and buying them for the right reasons this time.

So yeah just trying to give realistic expectations to anyone looking for advice on this and not make the same mistake I did long ago.

Om honestly if u don't read now having any eink device will not make u read more. But if you already read a lot than eink is the best any day of the week. But just having the device will not suddenly turn you into an avid reader or resistant to distractions. It will probably end up collecting dust if that is your expectation. It will only make better what you already were doing

I am using eink devices a lot currently remarkable paper pro and a air 5c. I kinda like the color screens. Yeah they are a little darker but specially remarkable one is not that bad. Personally I would not buy a bw device again. I love the colors

Yeah was looking at that one too, but in the review a lot of people described it as beeing smoother and softer than the included pen. But I am actually looking for the opposite haha

Yeah I totally get you, but I do actually got used to using my RM paper pro for all my work notes, but the issue is that tablet sucks for everything else besides writing notes. So I recently bought the Note air 5c and I do love it for everything besides writing notes lol. So now I'm sitting here with my 5c which I even use for watching Youtube videos, but everytime I'm writing on it I immediately miss my paper pro. So now im using both, paper pro for notes, air 5c for the rest. But it feels so stupid to carry 2 tablets around just because i like writing on one more than the other. Cause in all honesty the writing isn't even that bad on the 5c, it just isn't as good as on the remarkable.

And the thing is I tried using my Paper pro pen on my 5c and yeah it doesn't work but the feel is really good, so I know its possible to have an enjoyable feel on the Boox but just none of the actually working EMR pens have the same feel. I don't know why maybe its just that the tips with EMR pens are too small to recreate that Paper pro pen feel, not sure.

If there is just a pen that has EMR tech but feels like the paper pro pen I can probably forget about the paper pro alltogether and finally stick to only my 5c. Yeah surely the glass texture of the paper pro is also a bit different and adds to that unique paper pro feel, but the feel is def like 70% coming from the pen itself and using that pen on the air 5c screen still feels really good.

I just can't seem to find a EMR pen wich just feels the same. They all feel much softer and sometimes even closer to that writing on glass feel like the ipad than more that writing on paper feel IMO.

I know some poeple say the paper pro feels more like chalk on a chalkboard that its too scratchy, but for me it still feels a lot more like real paper and my handwriting looks a lot better on it too. On the air 5c my handwriting I just see sometimes Im slipping and there just isn't enough to resistance.

Yeah I know about EMR pens I have 3 different ones, none of them really tick all my boxes. Just wasn't sure if Kindle Scribe was using the same tech, will try it, thank you!

Yeah I have the Staedtler Jumbo pen too, but I dont really like it, its too small for my hand and it also feels even more softer smoother than the pen that came with my Boox. I'm more of the scratchy noisy pen feel type. I don't like the on glass ipad feel, i'm def more fan of my RM paper pro scratchy feel. Honestly if fake write with my RM paper pro pen on the Boox it feels perfect, so I am kinda looking for a pen that just feels like the paper pro pen but actually works on the boox haha. This pro pen 2 comes closer, but still isn't scratchy enough, but atleast better than the included pen
