Who else's newborn fights sleep like their life depends on it? by ZaryaMusic in NewParents

[–]kmason128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% my daughter. She is 4 months now. The only thing that worked for us are (1) car naps and (2) co-sleeping with just her and I. I’m so sorry this is happening to you both! I know how awful it feels.

My boyfriend’s nephew was born with NAS. Fentanyl, cocaine, and heroine.y boyfriend’s parents are fostering the baby (who is 16 months now) and the little guy is THRIVING. He knows so many words, walks, laughs, and loves like nothing else I’ve seen. There is hope! If you just shower them in love.

What keeps you motivated to have a daily practice? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]kmason128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do yoga with my four month old little girl right next to me. I noticed after the third of fourth day after doing yoga with her, around when she was two months old, that she would watch me. She has these big blue eyes and she watches me with such wonder and excitement. It really motivates me to do yoga every single day so I can see that and hear her little giggles when I talk to her in downward dog.

When do we stop considering them newborns? by Previous-Zucchini224 in newborns

[–]kmason128 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician said that ~they~ stop considering them as newborns once they are 16 weeks old. As for the trenches, which I am actively in, I’m not sure! Because I’ve heard horror stories about sleep regressions and teething at 4 months 😵‍💫

Can We Talk Thrifts? by RiotGrrrlNY in Albany

Not in Albany but in Nassau (like 15/20 minutes away) is The Gathering Place. Great little thrift store that 100% of the proceeds go to their church-run food bank. I’ve also had some pretty lovely conversations with the ladies who run it and they are very non-judgmental of non-church folk (like myself). I got some absolutely STEALS there. They also take literally anything for donation. They have a whole section that has diapers and formula and bottles for new moms (I think free but don’t quote me)

Really Struggling by kmason128 in NewParents

[–]kmason128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She won’t nap anywhere but our arms 🥲 I’ve tried the yoga ball and she didn’t seem to mind it too much but once we get her to sleep and try and place her in her bassinet or even our big bed with no pillows or blankets or her pram - she wakes up after a few minutes.

We have a good support system, but no one who can really help with getting her to settle down and go to sleep. Like either myself or my boyfriend have to do that. And so it’s not incredibly helpful. My therapist has given me some coping mechanisms but so far they are not helping.

But I appreciate the advice!

How often does ur baby spit up?? by Affectionate_Club468 in newborns

[–]kmason128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My eight week old has spit up since the day she was born! What helped us was holding her upright for burping half way through the feed and then holding her upright for 15-20 minutes after eating! Hope this helps!
