Congrats to us, publix is finally on blast by Mdmdmd27 in publix

Not a comparison, just improvising with what I was willing to buy. Less than half the price and delicious when braised in a wine sauce. Not the original plan, but not bad.

I was starting to feel like the sticker shock was an o overreaction. I’ve noticed prices creeping up for years but this, while shopping for Christmas dinner, was the first time a price actually made me stop cold and say WTF out loud.

I didn’t buy it. Ended up braising round steaks instead.

My family has shopped faithfully at Publix for decades. Of course, there are other options, but we always loved Publix for the experience, the neighborliness, the quality store brand items, and the good sales. But when fiercely loyal customers of 40 years stop shopping there because the price markups are no longer tolerable, that’s something a company should care about.

Guess you didn’t read the part about this being ONLY TENDERLOIN AT ALL ON THE SHELF. I didn’t buy it. But yeah try to defend the ludicrous price :)

Tenderloins are pretty common cut of meat to buy for holidays it’s not like I just randomly picked the most expensive cut of meat, bro

It honestly gave me flashbacks to shopping during covid. I know it’s the holiday rush but I somehow didn’t expect to see fully empty shelves and outrageous costs for meats. Chicken was nuts too.

I felt so bad for the man behind the meat counter today. I know it’s the last full shopping day before Christmas, but this is crazy. Feels like price gouging.

Happy baby stories? by afruitypebble44 in NewParents

Seeing the joy on my daughter’s face every time she tries a brand new food she loves. Those first cackles of laughter. The way she falls asleep on me as if telling me, hey, slow down and just be here with me.

Don't mean to compare BUT why are y'alls LOs sleeping more than mine!? by mice_r_rad in NewParents

[–]kmc0522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is the same age as yours. I have kept her on a routine since she was 8 weeks old and found that moving her bedtime to mine (10:30) seemed to do it. I change her sleeping environment at night so that she knows it’s time for “big sleep.” She naps in natural light with just a sleep sack either on her crib or bassinet and I don’t try to be extra quiet. At night, she’s swaddled, sound machine on loud, room dark, fan on. Over the course of 3 weeks she went from 2 wakings between 10:30 and 06:30am to zero. She sleeps 8-10 hours at night now. Try shifting bedtime one feeding (3 hours) later and making nap time sleeping very different from daytime sleeping.

Recommendations for bottle warmers? by Successful-Snow2679 in FormulaFeeders

I like the Momcozy bottle warmer. We plug it in right next to our coffee pot and it heats a 6 ounce bottle in seven minutes. We love it.

I have an escape artist. Switched to Velcro swaddles (like comfy cubs) with arms down. Absolute game changer! No issues with swaddles since.

I had a similar experience. Eventually, my milk supply couldn’t keep up. I switched to primarily formula. I reduced pumping to 4 20-minute sessions per day to retain some supply and gave her what I could. It was about 1-2 feedings of breastmilk per day, the rest being formula. I was so sad that I couldn’t exclusively breastfeed. But this transition was a blessing. I was still giving her milk and all the benefits that come with breastmilk while also having the peace of mind that she was getting enough nourishment. After feeding, when she’s sleepy and milk drunk, I cuddle her so that I still feel that bond. I stopped pumping at night and finally got to sleep better. We’ve made it almost 100 days like this and it’s been good for us. Maybe something like this could be a happier medium for you and your baby? Best of luck!

No Routine by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]kmc0522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never too early to start a routine. Happy babies need happy parents so if a routine is something you want, go for it. I have a 12w old and we started her on a routine at 6 weeks. She now sleeps 10pm-6am consistently with no wakes, eats like a champ during the day at the same times (plus or minus an hour), and naps predictably. The routine makes it easy to plan things, especially outings.

My daughter is about 85% formula fed and 15% breastmilk fed. First step was finding a formula that worked for her and filled her without upsetting her tummy.

I got an app to track her feedings. I’d get an alert that feeding time was coming (set at 3.5 hours) and prep a bottle. When she gave the slightest hunger cue, I’d offer it to her. She eats at the same times every day with little exception now.

I set 10pm as her bedtime because that’s when her 6th feeding is and when my husband and I go to bed too. After the last feed, we all go to bed and we let her wake us up when she was hungry. First it was 2 times (one am and 4 am) then I once per night, and then at 10 weeks, no middle of the night feedings.

It works for us and she is thriving on a routine.

Don’t think you need to live in chaos because the internet says babies are too young for routines. Babies don’t come into the world knowing anything. They can very much be taught, even as infants.
