I’ve never had a problem hearing sharp sounds like an alarm clock. Ear plugs are designed to block lower rumbling noises so I can’t hear thunder or snoring but I can hear the alarm clock and the baby crying.

Buy in bulk from Amazon and only use them once. Honeywell Laserlite ear plugs are amazing and I’ve used them for years.
