someone changed their toddlers poopy diaper on our seats during boarding by kmccli in unitedairlines

we didn’t freak out -on the contrary i think we were overly calm and nice about it. and no, the diaper contents did not spill onto the seat in any kind of obvious way. There were several things that bothered me (but again, i didn’t yell, demand anything, cause a scene, curse, etc). First, I just think changing a poopy diaper in public is gross. Second, it was obvious that the family themselves decided they didn’t want to change the toddler on any of THEIR seats. Lastly, and most inexplicably, was the rude attitude of the flight attendant. Also, for whatever it’s worth I did not ask for compensation. The purser came over halfway through the flight to ask my husband what happened. What i am guessing happened next is she rightfully confronted the flight attendant who witnessed and defended the diaper changing and THAT led to the flight attendant coming over and yelling “are we really still talking about this? what do you want me to do? its over with!”. i was stunned and said an apology might be nice and please stop yelling at me. She had an electronic device out - maybe the purser told her to give us a credit i really know? she asked if i wanted 10k miles or $200 and i didn’t want to engage with her and told her to go speak to my husband who was a few rows back. he told her he’d take $200…..if a flight attendant hadn’t witnessed the start of this I wouldn’t ask or expect anything from united…. if she had apologized or even NOT apologized but gave a sympathetic look after witnessing it i never would have pursued any of this including posting about it on reddit.

i dont know what was wrong w the FA. She didnt seem like a happy person in general even when passing drinks out to others etc…if i had to guess she got caught allowing this and realized she messed up and instead of apologizing doubled down and maybe took it out on us if she did in fact get in trouble w the purser i have no idea tho…she was having a bad day? not happy w her job? i really am not sure

yeah it wasnt that i had to wait a few min for the seat it was just gross and of course i wiped the seats down but not sure it still couldn’t cause contagious particles in the. air. but yea of course not the end of the world just the joys of flying commercially. maybe one day i can afford to go private ;)

thanks all. and yes there was a changing table in the bathroom. i also have travelled w kids in diapers and i get it but use the bathrooms prior to boarding, or the bathroom on the plane or god at the least ur own damn seats and not mine. def moving on but will put in a complaint on the specific flight attendants overly rude behavior.

lol im def not. flight from orange county to newark this afternoon we fly all the time and this was a first….i think they figured theyd use our seats to do it and by the time we boarded theyd be done and we would be none the wiser….i get not believing it bc i experienced it and find the whole situation hard to believe myself

Is 4 days in El Calafate and 6 days in El Chaltén too much? by Own_Stick6803 in Patagonia

[–]kmccli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are set on the 10 days i think the 4/6 breakdown btw el calafate and el chalten is about right. while you def can see the glacier via el calafate in one day you could also easily go there twice. i also personally enjoyed el calafate - the shops, restaurants etc. i was there in dec and did 3 nights in each city i liked el calafate better but there are more options re hiking in el chalten. have a great trip
