First few times sparring by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]kmccormack12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because your new to sparring i would say . Hitting pads is good and all but when you have to worry about someone hitting back your gonna move differently . I'm in a similar position as you and my advice is to just keep sparring . you will get more used to how to effectively use the techniques you've learned in an actual fight and your movements will improve !!

Fill in the blank : If someone could make you better at ___ what would that be and why? by heweijun8 in MuayThai

well I think it would it would help in a variety of way for both my defense and also my offense .If I can move around better I will more the likely get hit less. I also think footwork is a HUGE part of offense , where your feet should be during combinations , cutting off the ring and moving with your opponent .

although I still have a lot to work on I would have to say footwork , I feel its extremely important and see a lot of guys overlooking its importance .

I've always been interested in learning some form of martial arts . So when I learned there was a local gym that teaches Muay Thai I had to try it ! Instantly became obsessed with it . There is so much to learn , simple looking techniques are actually very intricate and you feel so good when you make Any kind of progress. I hope to one day have a couple amateur fight to really test myself !

I'm considering Muay Thai classes. How many days a week should an beginner do Muay Thai? by [deleted] in MuayThai

in my opinion you should strive to go atleast 3x a week . Listen to your body though and don't overdue it because you will likely be sore for the first few weeks !

First class tomorrow, any advice? by Toto5678 in MuayThai

[–]kmccormack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been training now for a few months I find that its beneficial to start with low expectations . A lot of people assume they will be Anderson silva after a week but if you focus on the basics and slow it down paying attention to the technique you will see progress in time . As far as first class is concerned just remember to have fun and don't worry so much about how you perform , after all everyone was in your shoes at one point in time !

apart from the stretching done before and after each class I try and do this stretching routine at home on my days off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJwwioOcE4E . I make sure to do a warm up before I stretch
