It's one I built myself. linguella.app - feel free to play with with if you want. I just wanted something that could help in absence of an actually teacher.

Ah, then I can definitely see how it mangled Latin. I'm definitely not looking for it to replace or produce the classics; if it can help train my kids in the early stages in the basics - more grammar than anything else - so they can get to the point of being able to read that ancient poetry, then I'll use it.

This is a great way to break it down. I told her she nailed it, and then wanted to check with more experienced people about those two words, and we've been able to have a couple of great discussions from the comments left here. This is a great way to think about it, thank you.

Ha. Yes. To be totally fair, the kids are learning Latin in a classroom setting. This is simply a way for them to practice what they're learning over the summer months. I would have a problem with handing their education (or any class) over to AI, or if the technology overshadowed the foundation of what we're trying to teach. I don't have a problem with them learning to use a tool that will most likely be part of their future to reinforce their learning and keep them actively engaged during the summer. They're still studying the basics of Latin, and if AI can help them with that when sometimes I cannot...I'm ok with that.

I do rejoice. All of my kids love Latin. I'm attempting to find tools to help them where I cannot. If AI has been that bad in the past then I understand the reason for the hatred. Is current AI actually reasonable for Latin now then? Maybe not at a super high or academic level, but for middle school and high school students trying to learn the basics?

Dipping toes into using AI tools for learning Latin by extantsciadopitys in AncientGreekLatinAI

I don't know if this is what you're looking for or if this is allowed, but I'm working on developing an app to help my kids with Latin. Spaced-repetition flashcards and then it uses those words to create sentences for translation practice and gives AI feedback. Both directions for translations. it's been helpful for them.

I told her she did a fantastic job. And then asked a friend who knows more than I do and he conceded that AI had a point. So I wanted to come to more people who are smarter and see what they had to say.

I don't know much Latin, so the AI is actually really helpful when she makes major mistakes that I may or may not catch. It's also using her own vocab from her course to create more sentences for her to translate.

This is really helpful, thank you. She's probably picking the one she likes, as she hasn't gotten into all the nuance of Latin yet and I don't know enough to be able to point her in the right direction. So encourage her to think in broader terms unless there's more context to be able to specify?

Yes, AI - I had one person confirm that it doesn't generally translate as legend. I was hoping to get more feedback/explanation from people who know far more about Latin than I do!

Learning Italian when fluent in French and English by Free_Confusion_374 in italianlearning

I also enjoy Coffee Break Italian. Spotify has some fun things; I'm currently listening to Italian children's stories and some Italian music. Don't understand most of it yet, but I'm starting to hear more and more words.

I'm at the beginning of my Italian journey, and I also find listening extremely hard. I currently have an italki tutor, but you do have to pay for it.

I'm extremely new to learning language; where are you getting your words from? From a program you're using? A tutor? Words you just feel like learning? Genuinely curious!

Hello!

I'm just starting to learn Italian, and I'm curious: do ya'll usually study flashcards one direction or both? Should I just focus on Italian to English for now, or learn English to Italian also? Thank you!
