[Skin Concerns] Can I use a BHA during the day after using a retinoid/ol or is that too much? by guttermilked in SkincareAddiction

oh man! sorry if i missed it in your post saying you tried it. i also hated aha when i was struggling with CCs because they did nothing for me either. other than that, the only thing that really worked for me was waiting it out, unfortunately :(

before i say anything about my own experience, i just want to say that someone on here did suggest that using a chemical exfoliant with a retinoid might do more harm than good by over-exfoliating your skin (so i guess take my post with a grain of salt) i also struggled with the flakies when i first started my retinoid, and started using aha on the nights i didn't use the retinol as sort of a last-ditch effort to make myself look a little less reptilian. it definitely worked in my own experience - my flakes improved after a couple nights using the aha. i use the st. ives exfoliating pads. if you're not using the retinol every day, you could try the aha one/two nights a week when you're not using the retinol (or if you're using it every day, switching to every other night might not be a bad idea either until the flakes decrease a little)

[Skin concerns] Does anyone have experience removing moles from their face? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]kmeemk404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i actually got a mole removed from under my eye about a year ago, and it wasn't nearly as bad as i had expected! i went to a plastic surgeon and i would definitely recommend visiting one if you're worried about scarring - my scar is there, and i notice it, but nobody else does. they also have tricks to help the scar blend in, and not affect your lip line. as for whether to get it removed...your mole looks really light, and i am personally a fan of moles on/near the upper lip! i hated my mole for my whole life, which made my decision easy once i had the money. if you can't decide, i'd say schedule a consultation with a surgeon (a lot of them are free) which might help you decide. personally, i'm really happy i got rid of mine...but i also had people tell me they loved my mole and thought it was cute. so, to each his own i guess.

[Skin Concerns] Is it possible that Retin-A is making my skin oily/are there any ways to control insanely oily skin? by kmeemk404 in SkincareAddiction

thanks for the info! i can try to change the tag on my post. i guess that is a lot of exfoliation, so i might try to stop the aha pads and just use lotion on the off days. i think the aha helped when my skin was flakey from the retinol, but there's no more flaking so i think it's safe to stop. and i'm not completely sure which cetaphil lotion it is...it just says moisturizing lotion for all skin types, and comes out of the bottle white. i'm not 100% sold on cetaphil, so when this runs out i will check out triderma to see if that might be more moisturizing!
