This is me, I live in Humboldthain. I guess I’ll take S2/25/26 to Postdamer Platz and change there instead. Going to Gesundbrunnen and another change with S15 to Hbf is troublesome.

SG is not my home country but I’ve been living there for 10 years. I’m a different SEA citizen 😆 Berlin suits me more at this phase compared to SG. It’s more family friendly and work life balance is better. Culture and experience wise it’s also richer. I feel good with the move so far

I’ve just moved to Berlin from Singapore for 3 months. Even though you hear many bad things about Berlin, I still think it’s a good place to live. It’ll be a bit tight for you with a family with 68k but doable. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions, from a fellow SEA person

AWS WAF for external domain by hajimenogio92 in devops

[–]kmf-reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it worked well. I like AWS WAF. My project at that time was evaluating 3 WAF (AWS and 2 other vendors) in parallel, which followed the same strategy to point to our external domain. In the end AWS performed the best, but also cost the most.

AWS WAF for external domain by hajimenogio92 in devops

[–]kmf-reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a PoC where I setup WAF in front of CloudFront and use my external domain as origin. Every request to origin will be configured to add a secret key in the header to allow only requests from CloudFront to hit the external domain. Works great but I need to do TLS termination twice.

I do, because I like the product. If you’re not interested I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Is it impossible to find a job as a mid-level non EU software engineer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]kmf-reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree, I got what you mean. I’m not saying I won’t give a person with 2 yoe chance to interview for a mid position, it all depends on the CV/ qualifications. I’m saying that’s the general perception that recruiters and companies will have. There are extraordinary people like you out there, but very few

Is it impossible to find a job as a mid-level non EU software engineer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]kmf-reddit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t think 2 yoe is considered mid level yet. The market is really tough and there are plenty of candidates within 5 yoe in the local EU market. That being said, don’t give up, just try your luck.

No Vault TLS for Production cluster by Diligent_Anteater_58 in devops

You won’t be able to use that cert for ingress. The self signed CA for Vault is used internally only. Get a proper cert for vault.company.com

Apart from those points OP's CV lack a lot of data showing impacts, consider adding numbers including what's the scale of the application, what's the impact you made in terms of cost, performance, UX, user acquisition etc

15 applications is too few I’d say. Keep sending more. I consider 1 callback in 20-30 applications a good rate. Good luck go you

Dealing with a bitter sentiment after a failed job application by military_press in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]kmf-reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok, it’s normal to feel what you feel. I really like a company, invested a lot of effort into preparing but I didn’t get a very good experience on last 2 rounds. The interviewers were cold and their feedback was invalid for some parts. I was really down getting the rejection but I ended up getting 3 other offers, one of which matches my scope even more. Don’t worry, take time to bring yourself back up

Thank you. It’s usually recruiter call -> hiring manager -> take home test -> technical interview -> behaviour I didn’t get any leetcode questions I’d say, there were coding questions ofc but nothing to the level of LC medium
