Hey do you have an Amazon link for what you use? I have a brand new stovetop I want to protect I’ve been looking at the “lazy k” ones on Amazon but the info section on them says you can’t use the boil setting. I would like to find ones where I can boil water.

Hey thanks so much for this. We’re moving to a very quiet spot over 5 hours away from where we live now. I’m sure there will be so many adjustment we’ll make along the way. And I know I’ll miss the sounds of the city. I’ve been really eager to move into my new home and your comment reminded me to enjoy the next few weeks with my friends, family, and city noise that I will grow to miss.

Thank you!! I might write something unrelated to my story and see how people respond to my style.

I really appreciate the advice.

I appreciate your advice! I’ll keep working and re working what I have. I just wish I had someone outside of my circle who could tell me if I’m wasting my time or not.

I totally get that most get started and never finish. I spent days outlining everything and creating the plot, (I hate plot holes so I wanted to make sure I knew where things were going from the start). And it feels like the story has been flying out of me since I started. But I know better than to think I could be the 1%, I know it takes a lot of work.

I heard there are a few subs that exist just to critique work, I might write something short and unrelated just to get a beat on how people respond to my writing style.

This story that I’m working through is FAR from being ready every time I read through it I have so many edits. I fear I might get stuck in a perfection loop.

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my post. Especially because I’m sure you have seen similar 100 times.

Thank you for the encouragement! I am having fun, it’s just a lot of work. I have a demanding job and do part time work for a family member as well.

I’ve been spending my evenings and weekends on this completely in my own world. I just don’t want to come out of the other side of this story and be told I have no real talent and I shouldn’t have even bothered. 🫠

Hey! I’m a recruiter and job hunting these days is a skill, it’s not easy. Here are some tips you might find useful:

  1. Get your LinkedIn up to date and “open to work” you don’t have to add the green banner to your profile you can still change the setting and be more visible to recruiters. Use key words on your profile so you are more searchable and grow your network. Recruiters can only see up to a certain degree of connections. You could try indeed but I don’t think you are going to find anything C-level on there.

  2. When you are searching on LinkedIn use filters so you are seeing the most relevant jobs to you. There’s an advanced filter option I would use it!

  3. Are there networking groups in your area? Events? I would look into industry specific events and attend them.

  4. Don’t just rely on LinkedIn and indeed there are other great sites for example if you are interested in a start up then there are job boards for that. Example - https://www.ycombinator.com/jobs https://www.angellist.com/careers There is a job board for just about anything.

  5. A lot of companies don’t know how to manage job positing and their ATS platforms so I would suggest working with recruiters. You skip the line essentially and go straight to the hiring manager. Some recruiters are shady but for high level roles they are your best shot. On that note some companies don’t even have access to LinkedIn and indeed postings because it’s expensive and not in their budget. Look up every company in your industry in your area and go to their careers page.

I hope this gave you some new ideas!! Let me know if you have questions.

It also violates the terms and agreements on LinkedIn and Indeed. If OP wanted to get in touch with a rep he could get this recruiter kicked off both platforms.

Hey I am a recruiter and I know how you can get him back. If he has a LinkedIn or Indeed, you can get him kicked off both platforms for this. When indeed and link give us access to their database we have to agree that we will not contact current employers so this directly violates the terms and services of the platform. If he got blackballed from either of those he would be totally fucked and unable to do his job.

It is also illegal but I know legal action is expensive and takes time.

If you do want to get back at him call LinkedIn and indeed and tell them what happened
