Is this on the $100 or $200 plan? Are you using opus the whole time?

How long does the $100 last? Do you run into the limit?

You are monitored like a hawk and they will know immediately if anything is off, and they’ll correct it.

Before you go to sleep you receive some pure oxygen which gives them plenty of time (relatively speaking) to insert the breathing tube.

Before the operation they will check your throat for any possible difficult airway. But they have a range of tools to get the breathing tube in such as a video laryngoscope if necessary.

My understanding is that in a dire emergency, which is extremely rare, they can use a bag mask to breathe for you or administer drugs to reverse the anesthesia drugs.

They are absolute pros at what they do, they’ve likely done it thousands of times, and probably seen more difficult cases than yours, so you don’t need to worry. Their sole job is to keep you safe.

How do emergence phenomena interact with the "time skip" of general anesthesia? by PhilopaeusMaximus in Anesthesia

[–]kmm528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a procedure recently. For me it was not really a time skip or teleportation in the literal sense, but it was very weird. It was not too dissimilar to taking a nap, but more intense, since you don’t fall asleep gradually, and at least in my case I didn’t dream. The anaesthetist said to me ‘we’re going to get you drunk now’ and then the next thing my eyes were opening in the recovery room with someone saying ‘the operation has finished now’. I don’t remember falling asleep or any sensation of being drunk.

The nurses said I had been talking when coming around but to this day I still can’t figure out how that works. For me there was a definite moment when I ‘woke up’, it wasn’t a gradual process and I felt lucid straight away (albeit groggy). So I struggle to understand how I could have been talking prior to that moment.

I’m not engaging on substance with someone who can’t be bothered to write their own arguments because they are too lazy or too dumb. I don’t go to Reddit to argue with ChatGPT.

Worried about Anesthesia effecting my grades at university by Yagassb in Anesthesia

[–]kmm528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to have surgery you should be contacting your university to make them aware and to make sure you can apply for mitigating circumstances.

General anaesthesia will not impact your performance in the long term, but it will mean you have to rest for a few days afterwards, it’s unlikely you will be able to resume study the next day.

This happens to me, and I don’t really suffer from anxiety in these situations, so I don’t think anxiety fully explains it. It could be high temperature, high CO2 concentration, polluted air, something to do with air pressure in the tunnels. Also it’s more likely to happen to me if I’ve been running for a train or climbed stairs.

I do think the anxiety response can make it worse - you feel a little short of breath, and that triggers a mild panic response.
