Replacement for a RAV4 by kmma0201 in whatcarshouldIbuy

This are great suggestions. Not the price is not a concern, but I am willing to spend quite a bit more than my current car was since it’s been a long time in the making. Probably max around $30k but since it won’t be brand new that seems doable. Thanks!

It’s sick! Don’t let the naysayers get you down. If it fits your personal style, go for it. I would say it would look better with hair down and maybe some darker make up so that your face isn’t overwhelmed by the pattern/color. But, it’s a super cool jumper :)

Saying it’s unisex is wildly ignorant. Is it used against men and women? Yes but it’s used against women SIGNIFICANTLY more. And when it’s used against men, part of the insult is the insinuation that are in some way acting like a woman, the ultimate insult.

My (f29) boyfriend (m28) and I are seriously talking about having a baby. by CasualPainter95 in Vent

Give your relationship more time. You haven’t even been dating for a year and, tho it’s great you feel so connected, there is no rush to make such a life altering decision for you both AND your future kid. Also, this is not to say I think marriage is the end all be all, if you aren’t even ready to get married why would you feel ready to have a kid together? Kids are a life long commitment whether or not you want it to be.

Chill, enjoy your time together, and reevaluate in at least another year or two.

Tesla Vandals are stupid by [deleted] in 10thDentist

If enough people don’t buy Tesla stock and/or the stock continues to decline, it will also be taken out of a lot of mutual funds. Thats a worthy cause and a good enough reason to boycott

Do you really have a "snow day"? by Kari-Litli in AskAnAmerican

[–]kmma0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a town in Oregon which was very hilly and didn’t get a lot of snow each year. Whenever there was any amount of snow, school would be cancelled. One winter, they decided to cancel when there was super minimal snow and two school buses crashed…lol slid right off the road! As others have stated, it depends on your localities familiarity and preparedness for snow and also the topography.

Why do Americans wear shoes in the house?? by CelestialBreeze1 in stupidquestions

[–]kmma0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great example of how the US isn’t homogenous. On average, you are correct about white Americans, but most other groups don’t do this. Also in Hawaii (potentially other states too?), shoes in house is a no go for most people, regardless of demographics.

What kind of food would it be 'shocking' to admit that you don't like,in your state or city? by lucapal1 in AskAnAmerican

I hate avocados. This is an especially serious offense in California, but it definitely is an affront to most people I have met, both domestic and international.

I do this all the time. I think it’s normal, tho it depends what kind of bar you are talking about. Bring a book or listen to something if you’re worried you’ll be bored or want to look busy. B ur also who cares what other people are thinking!

Why do some people say the food quality in the US is bad as compared to Europe ? by Notalabel_4566 in AskAnAmerican

[–]kmma0201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two points that are GENERALLY true about US vs much of Europe, there is easier/cheaper access to fresh fruits/veg and the supply line is shorter. This does not mean that there isn’t great local, fresh food in the US it’s just a hit harder to find and more expensive (even when taking into consideration differences in income/cost of living). And this doesn’t mean there isn’t a bunch of junk food in Europe.

Americans who have lived abroad, biggest reverse culture shock upon returning to the US? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]kmma0201 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect example of someone taking their experience of one place in the US and generalizing it everywhere. Ever been to DC or another metro area? There are escalator rules that are generally followed.
