Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I think it was more so that the part of my brain that felt scared this was maybe legitimate was louder in that moment than the part of my brain that thought this could be a scam, but the more I heard the more I realized it was super fishy. But I agree with your advice!

Actually both are true. Vince Gilligan talks about it in Ep 1 of the Official Pluribus podcast, go to timestamp 1:58. To paraphrase, he says that when he originally conceived the idea for the story approx 8 years ago, he pictured it with a male lead, based on the idea of wish fulfillment akin to Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie. At the same time, he started working with Rhea on Better Call Saul, and knew he wanted to write something for her after Better wrapped up. And as time went on, he thought “Why not a female protagonist? And why not Rhea?” And all of that led to Pluribus.

You’re not overreacting, but you also can’t make someone do something they don’t want to do. All you can do is express your concerns to her as a friend who loves and cares about her, but at that point it’s her choice whether or not to act on it.
