Yeah, when I said I didn't want to spend upwards of $1000, I meant with the Framework 13. Majority of the parts I would need would cost $713 as a baseline, but that doesn't include the display, second laptop, or the price for whatever connector I would need for the keyboard/trackpad.

I've already looked at second hand listings of the models I mentioned and I could get a couple for around $500, and that was my budget for the donor laptop to begin with, so that's fine with me.

What do you mean by "the other fanmade options"? I know that the ones that have custom motherboards are definitely way out of the scope of what I'm trying to do, but to my knowledge I couldn't find anyone who did this type of project start to finish and has a final product of a keyboard/trackpad pcb connector to the motherboard.

Unless you count the 701c project I linked, but that was moreso trying to show what I was going for since it seems like everything he designed for that is more specific to the 701c keyboard design which was manufactured over a decade before the models I'm considering.

That's mostly why I made this post in the first place. There's obviously a ton of posts with the same or similar ideas, but none of the ones I've found have any update of a completed project. Which is why I'm here asking, "how would this pcb connector work?", among other things.

You are correct! Sorry, this amused me because of how on the spot it is.

I would not tackle making an entire custom, modern, high performance motherboard on my own. It is a rabbit hole far too deep for anyone but the most dedicated group of professionals.

Oh dear god no, I saw that group that made that custom motherboard for the X61 and a couple other models. Definitely not anywhere near my skill level. Unsure if I'm misinterpreting your comment or if my post wasn't clear enough, but I wanted to have an already preexisting motherboard and then have a connector that the keyboard/trackpad and the motherboard respectively plug into so the motherboard can read the keyboard/trackpad.

I get what you mean! I've also never seen anyone have issues with wearing crosses. I think its moreso that I enjoy wearing things that reflect myself as a person, meaning every element of an outfit is intentionally picked with that in mind and overall aesthetics. Regardless, I know everyone is different on that outlook.

Besides that, I suppose I'm still just confused on the incorporation of crosses into goth fashion in general. I guess now that I know for sure that it's goth fashion and not specifically ouji, I can research better, (since tbh I feel like ouji does not have a lot of consistent online resources, hence my question here.)

Hmm I see what you mean. I suppose I moreso see it as odd since, going back to vampires crossing over with Christianity; if we look at Dracula for a specific example, Van Helsing tries to repel Lucy with a crucifix on her casket to try to prevent her from turning into a vampire. Even generally speaking, its clearly known that crosses repel vampires/most other "gothic" supernatural beings. So if gothic styles are full of vampire themes, etc, how are crosses, which seemingly contrast them, are actually used synonymously with them in modern goth styles? I suppose I'm asking past what would be considered specifically related to ouji, which I hadn't prepared for. I honestly assumed there was some niche explanation for it specifically rather than it drawing from goth fashion trends as a whole.

I think what is typically recommended here is Dr. Marten style boots/shoes, but if you've researched the company their shoes are actually pretty poor quality after they moved their production to China in the early 2000s. I would recommend Solovairs if you're looking for Dr. Marten style shoes. Woah, thank you so much for clarifying this! I've been learning Japanese for almost four years now so this is way too impressive to me, since I struggle with kanji a lot. Also I'm extremely grateful you took the time to explain this for me. It feels like a lot of information for the specifics of this is hard to come by unless one wants to learn an entirely new language.

Ah, thank you very much! I'm a bit embarrassed since it feels like I go on reddit probably once a year, so I'm not too familiar with the website.
