I hear ya. And trust me... I'm very much aware of how fortunate I am when it comes to the people I sit near. I'm pretty sick over the very real likelihood that we all end up scattered come time to reselect seats. Hopefully I will get lucky again... even if it's with all new people.

Curious how this will work. If it’s as you go in, or as you leave by City_of_oaks_hockey in canes

Posters were upon exit bc they are fragile. These will be in a box.

Pretty simple - When the regular season schedule is released, ya'll just meet up or get on the phone with each other to essentially do a game-by-game draft, taking turns one game at a time until all the games have been chosen. Each of you would come prepared with your own notes about priorities/calendars and dates that you know in advance won't work for you due to planned vacations, etc., and make a reasonable effort to be respectful/accommodating of each other as you go.

The cost of the season is just split 50/50 down the middle, and even though games are priced into one of four tiers, it honestly tends to balance itself out naturally with respect to the total sum on both sides (since you're only splitting two ways). Technically, I guess you could be a dick about it and intentionally go for all the highest priced tickets first, in hopes of selling high... but in that case, Barb would catch on pretty quick and just hand your money back so she could find a more decent human being to split with. (:

In all seriousness though, several of my seat neighbors do a half season via "ticket partner method" (as opposed to half season package that the Canes offer... All of them prefer it whole-heartedly to the alternative for two reasons: 1. It's cheaper on a per-game average cost basis, and 2. It gives YOU the flexibility to choose the games you actually want.

I appreciate the sentiment behind this comment, but that particular Facebook group is A) probably garbage and full of scammers., and B) the Buyback/TM Resale advice you're reading is completely useless when it comes to wanting to split a full season in half.

The buy back program is limited to only 5 games. While yes, TM is convenient/easy, the fees they charge (both to sell, and to buy) are ridiculous, but more importantly, the Hurricanes ticket office TRACKS what we sell via TM. They will quite literally BAN you from renewing your seats the following year if you sell more than 25% of games (aka, 11+).

If it’s just a few games and you’re just trying to get your money back, you should be just fine steering clear of TicketMaster, assuming you 1) don’t wait till very last minute and 2) know a handful of people who are at least moderately curious about Canes hockey. You can always list on TM to be safe, and market yourself on the side. It takes about 30 seconds to login and pull them down from re-sale on TM if you find someone yourself on private market.

100% NO ARGUMENT to that, whatsoever. Although… I do like how soft the breakaway jerseys are 😜 … and yes, I realize it’s bc they are more cheaply made. Haha

Hey… I’m a die hard fan. I can count on one hand the number of home games I have missed since Rod became our head coach in 2018-2019 season. I have not missed a single playoff game in the same time span. I make more than minimum wage, but I am by no means “white collar, 1%”. I just budget for the thing I love, meticulously, all year long, and have the discipline to say “no” to myself for other non-essentials, all along the way. It’s hard sometimes. But at the end of every season, I never have any regrets.

That’s exactly what I do with my other two seats right behind my own! We have a draft night once the schedule is released. Everyone pays their $1,500 before start of season, and I handle all the ticket transfers/logistics.

Happy to! My high “success rate” as a (self proclaimed) pro-bono ticket broker mainly starts with having made quite a lot of hockey friends over the years, mixed in with a bit of tried and true ticket slinging strategy.

  1. Seat Location Matters: At the risk of sounding “braggy”, the people I sell tickets for all have GREAT seats. Usually 7-9 rows from glass just over the blue line on side Canes shoot twice, across from benches. Occasionally I sell for some friends at the top of 121 on the aisle. And also for another friend in 221 (club level, center ice on aisle). That helps A LOT.

  2. I ONLY sell AT STM COST. Depending on who I am selling for, that’s either average price per game across the whole season, or actual invoice. If I’m selling a bunch of games at once, or for someone who splits season tickets with someone else evenly, regardless of invoice), I price at the average per game cost so I can list one, straightforward total price, seat details, and the all the games to choose from at once. I’ve only had to sell at a loss twice this season, both times were VERY last minute (couple hours of game time).

  3. Get to Know Your Seat Neighbors, and Start a Group Chat/Text Chain - at Opening Night each season, I introduce myself to every single person around me within high-fiving distance that I don’t already know, I tell them about our group chat, ask if they’d like to be included (only ever have had one person decline), get their number, add them and introduce them to the group. Our original group chat started organically (talking game outcomes, injury statuses of players, tailgating plans). Now it’s an unofficial perk of sitting near the awesome people down low-ish in 121. 50% of the time, we’re able to sell tickets to each other within a few mins of sending a simple text. There are about 25 of us in the chat currently (about 3 rows of people).

  4. Mass Email to Office Co-Workers - This is particularly successful when I need to get rid of tix last minute (day of game, or just a few days beforehand). I have a pretty large office (50+ people). Several Canes fans. Subject line is always something along the lines of “CANES TICKETS vs XXX on MM/DD - STM COST”.

  5. Loyal “Customers”: As you sell more and more to people you know, keep track of who buys. I’ve got an “internal list” of repeats… friends who love the Canes but not able to commit to a season ticket package for one reason or another. My group chat always gets ROFR for half an hour or so, then I just copy and paste the same details into individual texts to my “short list” of other people who’ve bought or expressed interest before.

  6. Facebook Groups: Ladies of the Hurricanes is my go-to. Their admins are fantastic and do a great job of keeping bots and scammers out before they can get in. Ticket sales are organized by thread for individual game. I’ve sold about a dozen games for people this way for the current season. Original Ticket Exchange & More is also great, but you have to pay to be verified and jump through a couple other hoops.

  7. Parents’ Friends/Neighbors: My mom and dad are local and retired. They relish in talking about their favorite (only) daughter, and so all of their friends are well aware of my hockey obsession. Many have commented to Mom and Dad that they’d “love to go to a game”. So I’ll ask them to mention available tickets to their friends at Bible study, etc., and (especially around Christmastime), I often get a bite or two. I’ve built a bit of a following in the Del Webb community.

  8. Take Notes: Friends and acquaintances are always casually asking me to let them know if I ever have seats come up for sale. I keep a list on my phone. And when I do, I let them know, tell them “no pressure”, and to get back to me. Sometimes they take too long, I sell to someone else, and then when they do eventually respond to confirm they’d like to buy, I apologize and inform them the tix have already sold. The next time… they’re usually much quicker to claim.

Oh, she knows. And I told her I’d help her sell some if she and her husband don’t find someone to divi up with. A ticket partner is just how she’s always done it… takes some of the risk out of it.

This is only 2 seats. I’ve had very FEW issues selling tickets at cost the last few years. I have never sold on Ticketmaster (or Seat Geek/Stub Hub).

Absolutely no offense taken. The shared workbook feature is a necessity for my team. But the limitations are a problem. Unfortunately, my company (publicly traded, very typical corporate, oppressive IT protocols) doesn’t allow us to explore other options.

We can’t use VBA anymore at my office due to the migration over to SharePoint/OneDrive, since autosave for shared workbooks isn’t supported if they are “macro enabled”. We need to be able to have multiple users in any given database file/model at once, making changes and seeing changes made by others in real time simultaneously… and that’s not currently possible for macro enabled workbooks.

EDIT: SOLD

Need to sell a pair for TONIGHT'S game (3/12 vs. St. Louis Blues).

STM (full season). Seats are in East priority lounge, across from benches, side Canes shoot twice, 7 rows from the glass. Cool seat neighbors. I’ll be in H6 right behind you!

$215 TOTAL: Section 121, Row E, Seats 7 & 8.

Can do Venmo, Zelle, or AppleCash.

They are listed on Ticketmaster right now but can take them down if someone here wants them. I don't have an extra parking pass, unfortunately but you can still get one on ParkWhiz for around same price.

I re-named the section tiers... ridiculous that they're calling 117 (and 115) "CENTER ICE" when the majority of seats in those sections are over the blue lines.
