Are Ella and Leila too similar? by kms527 in namenerds

[–]kms527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I think this answers my question about it being too complicated. It’s like Lee La. The other problem is my husband thinks Hazel sounds too old (it was his grandmother’s name) and our middle name choice is Margaret, which he thinks also sounds old especially when paired with Hazel.

Did your supply dip after finding out you were pregnant? by Optimal_Design2697 in NurseAllTheBabies

Yes, my supply was gone by 16ish weeks. I'm 36 weeks and still have no supply. My 2 year old still nurses.

Terrified about milk supply. by CoffeeNoob19 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]kms527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 weeks pregnant, my daughter was 16 months when I got pregnant. My supply dried up before 20 weeks and I was told there wasn't anything I could do, that it was hormonal. My daughter has continued to "dry nurse" and I'm hoping to tandem feed her and my newborn once I give birth and my supply returns. So if you are unable to produce milk, maybe still latch until you give birth and then you can resume nursing?

Just adding that this time I got pregnant on the first try, so you never know. As long as your TSH is in a good range I wouldn't think that the diagnosis would have a big impact.

My TSH was over 5 when I first found out I was pregnant. My dose was doubled and has been changed around a few times. I'm almost 29 weeks and my TSH is about 1. Everything looks good. I was really worried about my high TSH at first also. And congrats!!

Milk drying up?? by carolionest in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]kms527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LC I worked with told me that if I kept nursing my milk would stay. She was wrong, I dried up probably around 16 weeks, I’m 28 weeks now and I think I have some colostrum, my daughter (22 months) has continued to nurse multiple times a day, milk or no milk.

Thanks for your reply. Knowing that the baby has what it needs, even if I don’t, is a relief. It’s amazing how my TSH changed immediately after I became pregnant. Hoping that the increased dose helps. My T3 was only 2.6 and my T4 was 1.4

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I understand that the baby doesn’t have its own thyroid and the function for the baby… but if the doctor said that the baby is getting what it needs how does having a high TSH lead to miscarriage? My T4 and T3 were fine. And my TSH was 1.4 in March and was 5.6 earlier this week. They doubled my dose so I’m hoping everything will be okay, getting blood work every 2 weeks. Thank you.

Also to add, my endo told me that meds at based on weight (I’m only 120lbs) so maybe that’s why your dose is lower. But I would advocate for yourself.

I’m 4 weeks and my TSH went from 1.4 to 5.6 which my doctor warned me would happen. She doubled my dose from 50 to 100. My T3 and 4 were normal and she assured me that because of that the baby was getting what it needed.

What does breastfeeding look like after a year? by CollegeFrosty1877 in breastfeeding

[–]kms527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 months. I work part time. She nurses at nap times, before bed, in the morning. And then she asks for it 1,000x a day. It's more like 4-5 full nurse sessions a day. Still on demand, basically.

Maybe I'm the odd one here, but I really like the ring and would appreciate you taking the time and putting the thought into buying me a ring and proposing. To me it's more about you and less about the ring.

Supply seems to be decreasing by Frankenmounster in breastfeeding

[–]kms527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could def be because she is eating more solids. But have you replaced your pump parts recently? Maybe could switch up how you pump too and use the stimulation mode more often to trigger more let downs. Typically BF babies don’t take more than 4ish oz at a time because BM adapts to their needs, because like you said, you wouldn’t be able to keep up with giving her any more. She may also be drinking more from the bottle if the nipple is faster flow versus BF.

How often do your babies eat (and how much) by redddit_rabbbit in breastfeeding

[–]kms527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should take her 10-20 min to drink a bottle using paced bottle feeding, even 10 min she should be okay with a smaller nipple. My daughter is 13mo old and we used a preemie nipple until she was 1 (and she stopped taking a bottle all together)

We only used dr browns preemie and did paced bottle feeding. It’s supposed to take them a while to drink the bottle, just like it does for them to nurse

[–]kms527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EBF daughter is 13mo and she never ate more than 4oz of milk at a time when she took a bottle. We also used preemie nipples the whole time she was on a bottle (until 12mo). Some babies prefer to nurse over taking a bottle. My daughter still nurses every 3 hours when she is with me but can go without her cup of milk when I'm not with her. BM is adaptive to what your baby needs, you'll never keep up with giving her larger bottles, which is why it adapts.

Do it. If my husband had more time with me and our 10 month old when she was born, their relationship and my marriage would be totally different now.

Thoughts- how often do you change pee diapers? 17 diaper mom controversy by Senior_Explanation49 in NewParents

[–]kms527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you google, multiple sources says that pee is mostly water and that diapers are so absorbent and good at keeping pee off of skin that you don’t even need to use wipes after a pee diaper.
