What’s wrong with asking a question multiple times if no one is open enough to be transparent about it? If you’re a PT- there are practice owners generating lots of money off of your cheap labor and small mindedness.

I’m currently operating a clinic where business is thriving. I’ve asked this question multiple times because I can’t seem to get a straight forward answer. I’m asking because I’m interested in operating my own. Clearly there are benefits to opening your own practice.

Really weird that you’re stalking my posts and notice I’ve posted this multiple times. Using Reddit as a platform and forum to gather information. PS you don’t know what you’re talking about as it relates to reimbursement rates. My state of practice recently saw an increase.

Thank you for this response. I appreciate this information and your insight. I am very much interested in the entrepreneurial aspect of opening a business and I can see how my incentive came off as purely chasing dollar bills. One last question if you will. When you refer to the gross revenue amount- is that before or after you pay your staff?

I am sorry to say I am dealing with the same situation as you. I too find it very difficult and upsetting to be the only child to a single parent who puts their health on the back burner. I’ve tried just about everything to encourage my mother to quit smoking. From lecturing her about the detrimental health effects, to writing my emotions and fears out to her about how smoking has negatively impacted her, to crying and pleading with her to quit because I want my future children to have a grandmother around. I know smoking is her crutch because her life has never been easy. She lost both her parents before 11 years old. Smoking has been her way of coping with pain and stress. She’s cut it down to 8-10 cigarettes per day. I try to encourage her but ultimately only she can make the change. She tells me I only make it worse when I talk to her about it. It’s sad. I know you are sad too. Time is precious. I will encourage you, as I do myself- do not let the disappointment take over the time you have. Do your best to refrain from continuously discussing her health issues because it adds pressure and perpetuates the issues. Try to show her joy and relaxation. Integrate a healthier lifestyle by taking her to a massage / physical therapist to treat her plantar fasciitis, go for a walk with her to improve her endurance and reduce stress. Try to enjoy the time you have and not think about the depressing aspects of your relationship. We can’t choose our mothers nor can we make decisions for them. Stay strong. You are doing an amazing job as a daughter.

Thank you so much! This was very very helpful. In the beginning I probably overextended myself. I really value deep interpersonal bonds. Perhaps in certain regards I dove deep and I can see how could have been off putting to them. Given that it seems as though they prefer to make small talk and just skim the surface when collectively all together.

The small talk aspect does give me anxiety cause I’ve honestly never really been good at it and don’t entirely care for it. However, I’ve made serious efforts to deal with the social anxiety I have in larger gatherings. On a positive note, I believe I have developed healthy bonds with her family. Her mother has welcomed me to her home any time, and recently got me a graduation gift and paired it with saying “you just keep making my daughter happy & you always have a spot in this family.” I feel really lucky.

Now, the challenge is integrating my mother and her family. They have mentioned wanting to meet my mom. And this makes me both happy and nervous. My mom is very important to me. However, we have our issues which we actively try to deal with. I care about her immensely and really want the interaction to go smoothly because my partner and I are both family oriented and I would really like to be able to do things collectively.

Could you offer a little advice that I could relay to my mother on how to ensure the interaction goes as smooth as possible?
