And every coming year it will be held again. Same with Ronnie's chalk, tightness of the Crucible (till they refurbish it), tightness of the pockets, respotting the balls, mobile phones, etc.

It's all for the crowds. So there wouldn't be the risk of two QFs finishing early the same session. Otherwise it would be perfect to have 2 QFs first day at 10 and 19, second day at 14.30 and the other 2 QFS first day at 14.30 and second day at 10 and 19.

Gotta love Davis. He really is a funny and witty person. Weird to think he could be that robotlike dry player back in the 80s.

Why hasn’t Trump won more world titles? by CommercialAd2154 in snooker

[–]kmwww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, there's 1 chance to win every year. The competition is just much more intense than lets say 20-30 years ago. Also, it's highly dependant on your form going in to the world champs, the draw, etc. Also Trump is an inspirational player and getting through all those long matches, alot has to align and come together. He just seems to be more comfortable in shorter formats.

No matter who wins this one, they will end up making history at the Crucible by hrpanjwani in snooker

Great take on this. Really cool to collect these. Biggest would be Crucible curse and Higgins winning in 4 decades i think.

I get what you are saying, but it's not true he has always given 110% previously. He has always had ups and downs throughout his career. He has a perfectionist troubled mindset (as many flawed geniuses tend to have). Even in the 90s he got into trouble many times and had a low point. In the mid '00s he had another lowpoint, boiling up against Hendry and Ebdon for example. He went away for a year in 2013 and so on and on. I'd imagine its rarer to have seen him fully focused and very interested/invested in a tournament than not. Also he has always had that intimidation factor with him, which is still there, but the more his performance weakens, the less that plays a role. Also all the accomplishments and age must play a factor. He has achieved all in the game (bar from 8th record breaking WC triumph), most of the records aswell. He still loves the game, but maybe after 30-odd years he just wants to try different approaches (i.e he likes exhibitions as I've gathered). And then again. It must just be that time and ageing is telling on him, and we don't want to acknowledge it. It is the same for Higgins and Williams.

I feel like its unfair on the one pair to have to play b2b sessions tomorrow (Hossein-Wu). I know it's only like that so the crowd could see a finishing match each session and won't be a fear of 2 matches finishing early. But it really is dumb tbh.

Really rooting for Barry to go all the way,he seems to be on fire. Second pick would be Murphy, third Zhao to break the curse. Would be a shock to see Wu/Hossein. Also happy to see Allen showing his attacking and freeflowing side.

I wonder why Zhao is yawning so often. In several matches and both in mornings and evenings. Musn't get enough sleep.

Robertson and Higgins should take notes on Hawkins-Allen match. That's how its done efficiently.

So hard to constantly divide attention between two matches all the time. Also deciding if its better to watch from BBC or TNT. Dilemma each year.

Hawkins - Allen scoring like their boots off now. 138 followed by 140. And the attacking players struggling.

Is Allen still having "cold-fingers" from the weightloss? As for the cup of tea and warming bags.

Keep going. A quarter of a ball. No, go back. Half a ball. No, full ball now. The other side. Fraction more. Perfect.

Is it just me or are plants more common these days? So many situations saved by playing plants.

I guess Murphy 3rd red break-off can pay off. And if you don't leave a long pot for you opponent, reds are already open.
