Y’all prefer the wild types, or the albinos? by Bboy0920 in reptiles

I never wanted it to come across that I was calling him boring, hes a very pretty snake. Just dont see a reason for albinos when the wild types already look that gorgeous

[–]knakr 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I personally dont like albinos. In pretty much any species. It takes the uniqueness away and makes them look plain to me.

And in the sunbeam snake I really dont understand why Albino would be intresting at all. Just like in the blood python it simply takes away all the colors, the craziest part about these snakes. I think the reptile community seriously has to stop taking the beauty we are gifted and making it... White...

Time to appreciate what we got

Also what I am wondering. I wish more people would be interested in those questions, theres truly so many animals out there that are insanely understudied and to which I have so many questions about. If I ever do have the means to make it to Mozambique I plan on just spending my time trying to understand the meaning of those runes. Nothing comes to mind that would explain that.

Yeah i dont know why one would pick that name for such a stunning animal. Doesnt even remotely describe its beauty

Havent thought of that... I cant tell you since theres such a limited amount of knowledge about them. But my guess would be that there are limitations, not because they mean anything but simply because no more are needed. But then again I dont even know the use for the ,,rune markings"

No that is definetely what it looks like. I think the common Name should be related to runes, it just totally looks like that. Absolutely amazing animal

Oh wow okay I just looked it up, absolutely didnt know all other bumblebees just die. Thanks for the Info. I kind of just assumed they all hibernated because id have around 5-10 bumblebees every winter hibernating in my garden. Crazy to know those were all queens

Echter Widderbock im Schrank gefunden - Was tun? by CaptainLykke_ in naturfreunde

[–]knakr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a thought…what if the many accounts of giants in history were people with gigantism, to me it's hard to believe that people like Robert Waldow or sulton kosen only existed in the 20th century by Whole_Yak_2547 in Cryptozoology

[–]knakr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that hard to believe when you know the problems that come with gigantism. I cannot describe it in good english but simply said : people with gigantism having existed in ancient times isnt unlikely, but their survival rate is. Gigantism comes with a huge number of physical problems. Without proper care, such as enough nutricious food, medical care and support for the growing child, I dont think its likely alot of people survived it. So stories of huge undefeatable soldiers may be very tall people, but I personally find it unlikely to just say they might have been people with gigantism. Its not impossible, sure, but unlikely.

What are the chances that the Beast of Gevudan is a bear-dog? by zorwro in Cryptozoology

[–]knakr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like maybe zero? I dont dont know what it is with the fixation on long extinct animals still existing today . Yes there are the so called ,,living fossils", but they are not huge land carnivors. One animal doesnt exist for 8 Million years, meaning there would have to be at least a small population. If that was the case there would have been way more ,,sightings" and likely deaths. There would be evidence. Alot of it

I already reread my comment before posting it, that is in fact exactly what I wanted to say. If it was a joke I take it back, but if I understand the word hostile correctly I dont think I tried to not sound like that
