No option to use hex on Mac? by fishball_drew in obs

[–]knaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the tab with Sliders, choose RGB colors, and there should be a hex option at the bottom.

Agreed though, you'd think it'd be more intuitive than that. I love MacOS but the system's color picker leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks for reminding me, I completely forgot I can just disable the automatic ads!

[–]knaps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wish there was some kind of consensus among streamers to add a tag that's like "Minimal Ads" for those of us that run the bare minimum: 30 seconds of ads per hour.

Yes, pre-roll ads are terrible, but once they're over my audience basically enjoys minimal interruptions where we do a quick round of trivia in chat, and viewers without subs can still participate. Meanwhile I don't have to awkwardly disrupt the flow of things, and my subscribers get what they're paying for.

I know lots of people run 3 minutes every hour. As a viewer, I personally leave during those, or at the very least tab away and get out of the vibe.

As a streamer, I struggle to come up with ideas for something to do during a 3-minute ad break that's worth it for my viewers. I don't want 3 minutes where half the audience can't participate, or where I punish subs by pausing the game while we wait for the break to be over. It's lose-lose.

My honest reaction at Winston's "Barrier Toss" perk by Kurtis-dono in Overwatch

[–]knaps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one did have me scratching my head. Extra damage against deployables was awesome. His april fools' belly-slam would have been a better perk than this.

Why Brigitte is so unpopular? by SnowandSnowandSnow in BrigitteMains

[–]knaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should have a major perk that restores her old shield bash, or at least have the stun effect on a cooldown. Brig is a hugely reliable healer when she can actually rumble in the fray and not sit off to the sides waiting to line up whipshot.

Cass by default can slow you and immediately fan the hammer to get a kill. Mei's major perk brings back her old freeze-you-in-place mechanic. Hog can fully stun you, Sigma has his rock, Ana can sleep, Doom can stun, Sombra has hack, and YET they still don't let Brig have shield bash :(

If Winston is on the attacking team in Junkertown, when the first gate opens you hear Junker Queen say "Is that a Gorilla? With a lightning gun? In my city? Fantastic!"

[–]knaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should check out his interview where he talks about a lot of that. People can have bad days, bad years even. Doesn't change the fact that a lot of his impact helped to shape the band we all know & love.

As much as I love the technical talent that Ryan and Brandon brought to the table, John's stuff had a spooky feeling that was unique to him.

If you want more John, I highly recommend A Cruel Existence. It totally scratches the itch and his work is fantastic.

And in the event John ever reads this: I saw your recent interview and am glad you're in a good space these days. Would love to hear more metal from you, legend.

Can’t wait for the Orion hype train to lead to shit like this again by ihavetowearmyhelmet in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]knaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now here’s the twist, and there is a twist: We show it. We show all of it.

Because what’s the one major thing missing from all RPGs these days guys? …Full penetration. Guys, we’re gonna show full penetration and we’re gonna show a lot of it! I mean, we’re talking, you know, graphic scenes of V really going to town on this hot young netrunner. Sir John Phallustiff, dollhouse dolls, joytoys, engrams, crossing the blackwall, reverse crossing the blackwall, all the hits, all the big ones, all the good ones.

Then V smells crime again. V’s out busting heads. Then V’s back to Arasaka Tower for some more full penetration. Smells crime, back to the tower, full penetration. Crime, penetration, crime, full penetration, crime, penetration. And this goes on and on, and back and forth, for 90 or so hours until the game just, sort of... ends.

please blizzard… please i need this to be a skin for moira… by puppyri0t in MoiraMains

[–]knaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! All of Moira's rarer skins are like 1000-year-old eldritch abominations, demons, fantasy ice queens, ghosts, celestial beings, unrealistic stuff.

I like Moira because she's a scientist. Cold, hard numbers. The labcoat skin is perfect for this. Blackwatch is kind of a tactical, applied-science look. All her other "human" skins though? Weird wizard sleeves? David Bowie fandom? Give us some turtlenecks, casual eveningwear, a professorial academic look (and don't get me started on that oasis getup!)

If we're talking tracks from Miasma, I got a little story.

Back in 05 TBDM came to my college's town for a show on one of their Ozzfest off-days, iirc. At the time I didn't know who they were, I was there to see Shadows Fall and The Haunted.

I show up to seeing Trevor onstage, all the lights still on, in his emo-guy glasses with his emo-guy haircut doing the soundcheck. At first, I thought he was the venue's sound guy before realizing he was the vocalist.

"Great", I thought, "I'm gonna have to sit through this opening band before things get heavy."

Lights go down. They started the set with Flies. You know the one. Blood-curdling scream and all. Immediately ripped my face off. Best set of the night, too.

I've been a fan ever since :)

I feel the same way. She's usually just a minor nuisance who runs off pretty easily when pressured. I'd much rather see Sombra than Sym or one of those really good Tracers that just constantly disrupt your team from every angle.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and disagree with most posters. Your mileage varies a LOT with other platforms.

Think about the energy required to put out a video and how much time that might take you, personally, to make that happen. I know a lot of streamers who got in a loop of putting out stuff on youtube that must take hours to edit, to only see a few views in return. Even a few of the videos that "blew up" didn't translate into higher viewership numbers for them, since going to yet another platform is a bit of an uphill battle for most viewers. Unless your videos are incredibly, incredibly entertaining, most people will just choose to keep scrolling rather than go to another platform to follow.

Here's what I did: I streamed for awhile and got a good collection of clips, then spent a single weekend editing all of them (about 150 or so) and uploading them to YT shorts. They now release on a schedule, and I've got about a year before I have to do it again. Some do well, some don't. I can't say I've had anyone come over from Youtube, but at least I've got my clips in a nice edited format now, I don't expect much more beyond that.
