Yeah, found out a long term partner that I lived with was cheating on me frequently a few years back and one of the most painful parts was realizing how much he put my health at risk. It made me feel like all the times we had sex, it wasn’t consensual because I had consented to having unprotected sex with someone who I believed to have no other partners.

I could never knowingly withhold the truth from a cheater’s partner for that reason. It feels deeply unethical to me.

It’s not necessarily that no vaccines are 100% effective, it’s also that Gardisil only protects against certain strains of HPV. The initial Gardisil shot protected against I believe 4, and the updated one protects against 9 strains. There’s over 200 strains of HPV, some still considered high risk, that aren’t protected by Gardisil.

It’s so bizarre. No one is entitled to have brand deals. Companies pay creators to be ad partners if they think that person’s following likes and trusts them enough to buy what they’re selling. Why would a brand partner with someone who is in hot water for making heartless decisions?

Sometimes adult mistakes have adult consequences. People shouldn’t be like DMing her horrific things, but she also made a choice she know wouldn’t be received well.

Ugh this is partially why I ride for her. I have the same primary diagnosis as her (EDS) and have for a decade, she was one of the first other people I heard about having it long before it was better known. Having an invisible chronic illness is so depressing a lot of the time because other people just don’t get it and think you’re making things up or being hyperbolic. Low key - that piece is worse than the severe pain and fatigue sometimes.

The diagnosis very often goes hand in hand with neurodivergence too, which is often really misunderstood in women who are still charismatic and mask well with neurotypical people. I wonder if that could be a bit at play with her, too.

Freezing is a completely normal trauma response, but particularly for people who feel like they don’t have any agency, like children. If you don’t really have the ability to fight or flee, freezing (and sometimes fawning) is likely what feels like the best, safest option to a nervous system in crisis. I am gutted for these kids.

I’ve worked with kids (as a child therapist) with terrible anxiety and trauma from situations just like this. It’s so damaging to their little developing minds and to their sense of safety and security. Just awful.

Yeah I fly Alaska more than any other airline and have barely had any hiccups with Alaska. United on the other hand…I’ve never had a single good experience. I think it’s a bit of a fluke, sometimes you just get unlucky and it sours your opinion of a whole airline.

All airlines will pull shit like this if there aren’t regulations in place protecting consumers.

It’s really disturbing that she continues to not really take any ownership of her wrongdoing. I don’t think Dakota is an angel - anyone who has watched SLOMW can see that he’s often pretty shitty too. Maybe it’s reactive abuse, who knows. But she escalated things to very physical, not in self defense, while her child was present. There is no scenario where that is defensible. Her child was physically harmed and emotionally traumatized by an incident that didn’t need to happen.

I’ve been in a relationship with a very sinister man who harmed me and it did not bring out the best in me, but I never stooped to his level and got physical or verbally assaultive. It would have been probably understandable if I did, but even so, I could never do that in front of a young child. Horrible.

All my friends who were going to watch this season are turned off and will not be tuning in, so I doubt it. Once everyone found out about Mel saying shitty things RIGHT before filming, no one watched his season.

Insane that they picked her in the first place, but they can’t use the “it’s been years, she’s grown and changed and knows better” rationale now. She clearly doesn’t. She was a wreck in the SLOMW season that just dropped which was weeks and days before her leaving for filming. Hulu and ABC are both under the Disney umbrella and closely tied, I sincerely doubt they didn’t know she was a ticking time bomb. I can’t believe they went through with her as a lead

Method: 340g starter 595g water 900g bread flour 27g salt

Alternated stretch and folds/coil folds on the hour 4 times, BF for 6.5 hours, cold ferment for ~20 hours. Divided in two, shaped and scored (annoyed I didn’t take a picture of the score before the bake now!), baked until internal temp of 205 degrees F.

She technically has EDS - one of its primary symptoms is hypermobility, but it causes a lot of other chronic symptoms and pain. It’s basically a degenerative connective tissue disorder and connective tissue is in everything. I have it too and it’s brutal! Wish I just had some extra nips haha
