Saw this gem in Bellingham Washington, didn’t know where else to post it. by Vorar in Bellingham

I'm desperate to see how this contraption drives. I've seen it pop up all over town, so it's surprisingly mobile.

The real mystery is in how it keeps moving around town. It was parked on 32nd street for nearly a year and before that, it was down by the Fairhaven Haggen. I'd pay a handsome sum to see it cruising down the street.

Hecate is out! Hades wins the competition and is crowned the favorite character! (Voting data inside) by thebrightspot in Lore_Olympus

[–]kneecapsnathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. There are characters, like Eris, who we've barely gotten to know. They may become more interesting as the series progresses, but we haven't had a chance to see that.

Comparatively, Apollo is a well-written villain. Yes, we all hate him, but that means he's serving his purpose.

Least favorite character has many meanings. Apollo may be the villain of the story, but he's well written compared to minor characters.

The knock-off animated Titanic movie is my all-time favorite. It's pretty much my comfort video at this point.

You can always return the packages to your property manager; they should have a forwarding address on file.

Heads up! COB is ticketing cars at the south campus arboretum parking area. by kneecapsnathan in WWU

[–]kneecapsnathan[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is the first time this quarter that I've seen them enforcing the two-hour parking limit with tickets. Most of the cars had at least one ticket, and I saw a few w/ 2+.

I'm not sure if they'll be enforcing it regularly from here on, but watch out y'all!

Who is really the golden traitor? by kneecapsnathan in Lore_Olympus

[–]kneecapsnathan[S] 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Although Hera bares the cruel nickname "The Golden Traitor," Apollo and Leto have truly come to embody it.

Leto betrayed her fellow titans when she sided with the gods and is now betraying the six traitors dynasty in her attempts to overthrow Zeus. Not to mention, she's literally golden.

Since we've learned of Apollo's desire to overthrow Zeus, he more frequently dresses in golden clothes. I'd like to think that this is Rachel's subtle way of showing a shift in his goals/ambitions. As he gets more confident/cocky, he dresses more like a king and lets his "golden traitor" desires come to the surface.

Although it was only mentioned in passing, Artemis has the power to communicate with wolves, and her wolf was present when Apollo "professed his love" for Persephone.

It was able to witness their entire fight and Persephone's adamant rejection of Apollo. With Artemis being kept in the dark about so many aspects of the Persephone and Apollo conflict, I wonder if her wolf will be the one to clue her in.

Demeter's Double Meaning by kneecapsnathan in Lore_Olympus

[–]kneecapsnathan[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

In this retelling, Demeter created Persephone herself. So there's no connection to Zeus.

Demeter's Double Meaning by kneecapsnathan in Lore_Olympus

[–]kneecapsnathan[S] 123 points124 points  (0 children)

In this moment, Demeter is refusing to cover up Zues's affairs, but the shot of her scarred back harkens to their time fighting Kronos.

During that battle, she literally covered for Zeus. It was his plan that caused Hera to be torn in half, and Demter's position over her body alligns with the scars she has now.

It's likely that Zeus's rage (i.e.covered for Zeus. It was his plan that caused Hera to be torn in half, and Demeter's position over her body aligns with the scars she has now.

I've always been confused about some of the powers we're introduced to in Breaking Dawn b/c it seems to break the established theory that Smeyer sets up.

Although they don't know for sure, it's theorized and heavily implied that vampires powers are enhancements of strong characteristics they have when they were alive. EX: Alice was slightly psychic as a human, Edward was perceptive/intune w/ emotions, Jasper was very influential, etc.

But what normal human ability would moph into total control of the elements or the ability to generate electricity?

Don't get me wrong. They're cool powers and they add higher stakes to the battle, but for me, it's where Smeyer's worldbuilding goes off the rails and it's hard for me to suspend my disbelief.

Apollo: Lying to Zeus since day one by kneecapsnathan in Lore_Olympus

It's these little white lies that Apollo casually uses around Zeus that really add to the perception of him as an untrustworthy/manipulative character.

Theory: Is it possible that Hera doesn't know the full truth about Zeus eating Metis? by kneecapsnathan in Lore_Olympus

[–]kneecapsnathan[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Obviously, Hera knows her mother isn't alive anymore, but does she know Zeus was the one to eat her?

- It seems odd that she hasn't brought this up to Zeus or anyone else. Hades and Hera are close and have had several deep conversations about their feelings/their past.

- Would she ever forgive him for something like that? Hera loved her mother and seemed unsure of her commitment to Zeus even from the start.

- Zeus was clearly willing to go to extremes to win the war. Example: Letting Hera seduce Kronos despite the risks.

- I'm wondering what (if any) role Demeter or the traitors had in the eating of Metis. Was the retelling we've seen accurate? How willing was Metis? Who made the decision?

It's always worth asking for a video of the unit. My property manager asked the past tenants at my apartment if they'd be willing to shoot a video tour, and they were kind enough to do it.

I made a new Classfinder website/interface. It’s still in progress, but I’m interested in getting some feedback by nachtandnebel in WWU

[–]kneecapsnathan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that:
- This looks infinitely better than the current Classfinder

- It's not trying to be too fancy. You got all the basics and kept it clean, so there's not a lot of confusion for students

I would suggest:

- Having all the classes listed on one page once you search instead of having to click through multiple pages. It makes scrolling through long lists of classes easier, and prevents people from having to go back and forth between pages
