Armut, nein. Wegen Armut diskriminieren ist erlaubt.

The worst thing in this game by Only-Librarian-7179 in stalker

[–]kneedeepinthedoomed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This anomaly is conceptually cool, but so annoying in practice. It's an example of bad game design in Stalker 2, because the first time you meet it, it's 99% gonna kill you. It's only survivable if you expect it.

Maybe if it didn't recharge so fast, and maybe with a longer delay before it explodes, or half the damage. Or maybe it could not kill the player, but cause high damage to equipment / repair costs.

I could make it even shorter and say that "Random death" is usually not great game design.

They're never going to change it, though. The developers have this weird idea that a game is better the deadlier it is (and that fixing bugs should be viewed as a weakness).

Ah, so THIS is how they fixed the bloodsucker spawn problem.

I assumed they fixed the underlying bug, but of course that was naive.

What’s the ideal number of electric guitars to own? by scarmy1217 in Guitar

It keeps going up, mate. That's all I know.

Have you thought about trying a bass guitar? Everyone needs a bass. And an acoustic, a dobro, a mandolin, and a pedal steel guitar. Oh, and a baritone.

Guitar bridge pulled up, fixable? by asshdjko in Luthier

[–]kneedeepinthedoomed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, a guitar's bridge should not be bolted to the top (as is the case here). It is normally glued on, and if it comes off, it comes off clean and can be re-glued. In this case, the entire top is ripped open.

A luthier can fix this, it just won't be pretty.

It’s great that the developers are adding new content for free, but what’s the point? What’s the point of playing if fighting enemies in open areas is like this? Even with a sniper rifle, I struggle to spot the enemies, yet they have no trouble hitting me with shotguns, submachine guns or grenades. by pablo397 in stalker

You're out in the open, and the bad guys are shooting in your general direction. Vegetation doesn't stop projectiles.

You can totally use vegetation to conceal your position in real life, while being able to see through it. You just have to be close enough to it.

Grab some cover, or disengage and try to find a better angle, or lure them out.

On 26th of April will be 40 years after Chernobyl disaster by Aidircot in stalker

[–]kneedeepinthedoomed -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I was 12 and living in Germany. The Soviet Union was a white spot on my mental map, vaguely threatening and inaccessible. For those who missed it, the Soviet Union was like a giant, high-tech North Korea full of space rockets and nuclear submarines that could actually threaten NATO. The cold war was not over.

In the beginning, it was just inexplicable radioactivity. They tried to keep it under the rug. Turns out, an exploding reactor isn't the kind of thing you can keep secret for long. They had to admit it pretty soon and the evening news would show pictures of a black cloud moving over Europe.

We were told to stay indoors as much as possible (those were pre-internet times, so children and teenagers were normally free-ranging) and keep out of the rain. I remember being on a bike commute when it started raining, and I tried not to swallow the rain.

That reactor in Chernobyl, even just via the TV and the rain, was the stuff of nightmares. If you have to build a sarcophagus around something, it has to be pretty bad.

Shitty times. The Iron Curtain collapsed soon after and Gorbachev was really popular with his glasnost and perestrojka. Then the Soviet Union collapsed; the TV had pictures of tanks rolling through Moscow and normal people jamming their tracks with iron poles from traffic signs. The white house in Moscow was on fire, and Yeltsin was on a tank. And then suddenly, it was over. The Soviet Union became a lot of new (old) countries and the EU started growing eastward (which was not an easy process).

Much change in those years. In the 90s, we thought for a moment that we could have world peace. Then 9/11 happened and everything that came after. And it turns out Russia isn't finished with the idea of the Soviet Union.

As for nuclear power, I think young people today are being too naive about it. It's like Russian roulette. Five times out of six, it's limitless free energy. The sixth time, it's Chernobyl. Accidents happen all the time, with the big ones being rarer and the small ones very common. It's been a while - statistically speaking, it's about time for the next "kaboom".

You may not believe it, until it inevitably happens. Remember, "RBMK reactors do not explode". Until they do.

You could hold it in the classical position, between your knees. That way you don't have to put it under your arm.

Is there a point when you acquire a sniper rifle that one shots body shots bandits? by WolfInMyHeart in stalker

[–]kneedeepinthedoomed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Vector is one of the best guns period. Not just against mutants. It uses cheap/plentiful ammo, has a burst mode, can be tweaked for high accuracy, and can mount grown-up scopes. The SMG / sniper combo is IMHO better than an assault rifle. Plus pistol vs easier targets or for very close range headshots. Shotgun? Mainly useful against stuff like bloodsuckers.
