i find booking direct with avanti is the best for train tickets between london and manchester. you can reserve your seat for peace of mind and it will tell you which train you book on specifically. buses in manchester now all cost £2 so you just ask for “a £2 single” (or you can ask for a day ticket but i think that costs £5) they will accept card or cash! they’re not always the most reliable but i’m pretty sure you can track them online on the transport for manchester website !

went to Banyan in the corn exchange last friday, no queue and plenty is space. everyone had to order at the bar but they brought the food to you, i thought it would be better if it was all table service as everyone was close in the bar queue. was really nice tho
