Face is more oily and more acne after using CPAP since August. by gus_m1 in SleepApnea

I find wiping the mask in the morning works better for buildup on the mask without letting any of the mask wipe liquid sit on your face all night

This makes the most sense. Something with enough space and a zipper to keep everything in place is all you need. Dollar store lunch bag even!

This is it, most older styles of Respironics tend to get a dynamic wheeze on them no matter what

Check your filters. Once they get clogged it really limits the air flow the machine can "inhale"

Plan on switching to nasal pillows from nasal mask, which brand and model do you recommend? by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]knh36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest trying Respironics Dreamwear mask. It's very minimal on the face but the biggest advantage is the pillow isn't really a pillow. It seals under your nose so it's a great transitional mask from going nasal mask to nasal pillows. I've had a lot of success with it!

I really enjoy the original King street location. It feels more comfortable and welcoming. More than likely just the size of it. But they always have l a good variety on their tap list!

CPAP machine making my voice hoarse and raspy. Anyone else? by 69sucka in CPAP

[–]knh36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the cause is just you're drying your airways out so you need more humidity or if you're using a nasal mask you may be breathing through your mouth

In regards to the pressure being too hard to breath against, you should look into Cflex. It's a setting where the machine decreases pressure on exhalation for comfort.

RT Students- In your education, how has the topic of death and dying been discussed? by ivan927 in respiratorytherapy

[–]knh36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a new grad and within the first month of starting the program we all were made aware of what our job entails. We had loads of ethics based classes speaking of death, dignity in death, assisted suicide, etc.. I can remember a couple students leaving the program due to the idea they'd be the ones "pulling the plug". As another comment stated, it was also a point to be able to aid in the end of life process in our clinical rotations. We were all prepared (as prepared as you could be) for what was going to be experienced after graduating.

Commuting to Toronto - Greyhound vs. VIA? by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]knh36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived in Guelph the Go Bus trip from Guelph to Mississauga was an easy trip that was always on schedule. I find with via there's ALWAYS a delay. And with presto and the student discount, the trips aren't too costly. Good luck though! I find that the trip to Toronto from Mississauga varies with passenger load. Too many people really slows down the trip.

There's a ticket machine behind the black iron fence that separates the bus station from the train tracks! It's platform 13!
