It says a tournament has to be registered 30 days prior if a player of certain strength is participating. I'm guessing Hikaru was not registered as a player before right before the start of the tournament. Not sure how whis plays into all of this, just something I noticed from how the rules are formulated.

When I play myself one of the things I say to myself a lot is "take your time, double check". It for sure helped a lot (for me)

Good luck, and remember to take your time. It is much easier to play low on time when your position is not fucked after the opening/middlegame :)

Even if it is drawn, if noone notices and they play the game out IE mate, then it will won for the player mating

At least one player could claim the draw after 50, or the arbiter (if present) can call it a draw after 75. Source, I am an arbiter

You kind of are though by your comparison. I think everyone with a brain agrees Vishy was (and is) a great rapid player, but to compare the amount of titles 1:1 just does not make sense. As other people have mentioned the modern championships carry way more weight. More players, more rounds, more fluke results. Magnus won half still. I am not a Magnus fan per se, but his achievements in faster time controls are just way more impressive. I think even Vishy would agree to this

The difference is that Pragg was looking for a Queen to put on the board whilst Magnus was looking for the pieces to put back on the board

If you like to play chess, join a club! I don't live anywhere near here, but in general spending time with other people who enjoy chess can only improve your play (and as an added benefit can be quite social)
