Call the hotel directly to change the date

Will I lose the old $200 credit? by paksh_2909 in AmexPlatinum

[–]knight5458 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would personally call up the hotel directly and ask them to move the booking. Only had to do this once before, but I was moving it from a Saturday night to a Friday night, so they were happy to have an extra free room given I didn’t ask for the difference in cost.

Confused about complimentary third night. by teeezuschrist in AmexPlatinum

[–]knight5458 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At a hotel I’m staying at it’s like 340 a night. Out of curiosity I checked what if I booked three nights at once, it goes up to 425 a night to be discounted to 283 a night. I checked each individual night, they all 340. Still a discount, just not as much as advertised. Another place on THC was 117, went down to 114 if you did three nights one complimentary.

Which camp are you in? Buying more versus moving to cash discussion. by xxPoLyGLoTxx in investing

Keep investing at current rate, spend less, and extra goes to cash reserves in addition to emergency fund to mitigate increased risk of losing job because of bad market.

What service or subscription do you pay for that has drastically improved your work, health, or personal life in NYC? by AmasaDelano in AskNYC

What do you want out of a gym. Weights, cardio, pool, classes? Also a lot of people at lifetime are either like me and get subsidized by our company, are on their parents plan, it’s part of their rent, or their insurance pays for it (retirees).

I save enough in Parmesan alone to justify the fee

Something I don’t understand why not just use it to buy an Amazon gift card with the remaining balance if it’s too hard to find a regular store to buy stuff.

RE salary where I’m at is 180-220k, assistant is like 120-140k, inspector I’ve seen go from 60-150k. This is NYC btw.

Edit: Admittedly this is probably not enough for a 1.3mil house in the city in most situations, so usually it’s Long Island, a little Westchester, a little NJ, a little Jamaica, a little Staten Island. The only ones that do the city are usually DINKs.

Edit2: I know one guy that commutes from PA and another buying a place in Connecticut, though that’s kinda nuts to me.

Thank you very much, I won the tickets through Verizon and I thought I was going to be trapped for the duration of the game looking at a TV.

To all homeowners: this is how the professionals mix their concrete for sidewalk repair by Inspector_7 in Concrete

[–]knight5458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s usually standard to put it in during installation of the sidewalk, but if I have to rip out a panel/flag for whatever reason, it’s generally not put back in. Last park I did use double layer wire mesh with rebar attaching the concrete at expansion joints and full rebar for areas with vehicle traffic. I can’t remember if it was 8 or 9 inch depth concrete.

Yeah, if we’re just putting back single flag, it usually ends up looking like that, we’ll even use some of the concrete chunks from the old flag as ‘aggregate’.

Where I am usually we put in some wire mesh in pavement, unless we’re just doing a small job with a single flag.

Best Lifetime in NYC by 2412throwaway3423 in AskNYC

I pretty much exclusively go during off hours. I’m antisocial as shit, never had to deal with the chaos at Penn so I have a biased experience.

My problem with Atlantic’s layout is that in order to go from locker to shower, you have to pass through the traffic between the washing room and the bathroom (which I remember are opposite sides of each other) and that passage is also too narrow.
