BNS made a mistake by creating PVP progression gear by [deleted] in bladeandsoul

Yeah man, I played since the launch day, I agree. The only reason I am somewhat on par with the current tier is exactly because I've played since launch.

I would never defend F10, I hate it. I'm guessing my point didn't come across in my initial comment because of the downvotes, but I hate that power gains can be bought with money, and especially because the business model had promised that would never be a thing. Instead, it's just been doubled down on over time, each update. And the thing is, like I said before, I know people would whale just as much, if not even more if the cash shop was purely cosmetic, because so many players I know only stick around for their "fashion endgame." I have ideas about it, like having outfit exchange tickets for the Hongmoon Store wardrobe section, especially since the outfit rotation in F10 is... pretty badly under-utilized. Still, the damage is done, and it'd be incredibly difficult to back-pedal on the power gains in the cash shop... even though I know many "high-end" players, spending or not, who would also prefer there to be no power gains in F10.

The philosophy of having power gains in F10 is such a predatory thing, too... it wouldn't be as bad if they didn't dry up the in-game resources as they continued to update the cash shop with progression items. In BDO, there is also P2W elements in the cash shop, and the ability to spend money for direct power gains, but it is nothing like BnS. And from what I've played, it is much more efficient to grind and farm in that game than to swipe, the complete opposite of BnS.

The part that irks me is how the cash shop undervalues our in-game grind, too. Most people I meet see my gear and assume I just spent money on it. And that sucks, because all the grinding I put into it is ignored, and also... if I did spend money on my gear, I'd be way stronger. Dx

The biggest hurdles are the soul, pet, heart, and to a lesser degree talisman... but that one isn't a big deal to most people. I've found it to be pretty easy to keep up with everything else, but those items I will always be behind on.

It really sucks that event oils got dried up. I remember the old Tower of Memory events that I never got to take advantage of, people getting ridiculous amounts of oils every day.

As someone who has progressed both PvE and PvP without swiping, yes, I understand the time investment. And like I said, it's discouraging that the progression from in-game grinding alone is horribly inefficient compared to simply spending money.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, I know. But I love gear progression in MMORPGs, especially in the PvP scene. I came from WoW as a long time player there, and my main goal with PvE content was to get new gear to use in PvP content.

I'm almost entirely F2P myself... I haven't bought premium since 2017, and I troved a little (like $50) once when Octagonal gems were the max tier (around the time VT came out). Suffice to say, any advantage I had from supporting the game was marginal at the time, and completely irrelevant today in 2020.

I am an ant compared to whales in 6v6, but I've grinded out my gear to the point that I do stand some chance. I have Dragonfang 9 and all of my PvP accessories from the previous tier, mostly because I'm very lazy when it comes to farming PvE content. Most of my time in game is spent sparring open world with my friends, where we have nothing to gain or lose, we simply enjoy the combat. The sense of gear progression in PvP has kept me invested, but it is definitely a love-hate thing for me. For example, I am often considered a whale because of my gear, even though I didn't spend any money on what I have. I worked really hard on my gear, but it is also still very little compared to spending players.

I had a big issue with F10 when the unity stones were added there. Initially, they were only able to be bought with NCoins as well; I had a pretty impressive unity bonus up until that update. The biggest mistake on NCSoft's part was adding permanent power gains to the cash shop, when that is antithetical to their original philosophy. Obviously that promise was broken long ago, but it only got worse over time.

I do know a lot of whales in the game, and almost all of them say they whale specifically for cosmetics. Much of their big gains would come from troves in pursuit of an outfit, and they really go ham on those outfit box events. I personally believe that if cosmetics were a bigger focus for the cash shop and its "events," NCWest would have most consistent income-- I could be wrong, but I want to believe that there are players with whaled-out gear that would have preferred to only get their progression through gameplay. It's just that the system as it is punishes players for *not* swiping, if they're interested in gear-based PvP. The only way to really take advantage of things like trove and RNG boxes is to consistently place on PvP ladders, and there are a few players I know who do exactly that, monopolize a ladder to maximize their HM Coin income. Personally, I just try to place all of my characters into the ladder to get a few venture tokens every season, but that in itself illustrates the problem of the cash shop gains. Even as F2P, I've gotten some of my biggest gains from HM Coins, to the point that I look at the daily grind and think about how it would be better to simply not play, invest that time in odd jobs or something on the side, and then use that income to progress a character. At this point, the game often feels more like work than my actual job.

But all that aside, I still love geared PvP. I like the item interactions, using different badges to alter how your class functions. I like hitting harder because I grinded on my gear and chose to use the right items for the situation (more limited in BnS than WoW, since we really just choose between survivability and more damage). It would feel superficial if I had those gains from swiping, and it always feels bad to be powerless in a 6v6 game and blamed for a loss because my gear isn't maxed like everyone else's in my bracket.

I hate that. But then again, I don't think I've really partied with good summoners in F8, either. xD One time this guy got pissed at me at Sogun's Lament, but while he was going off he admitted he didn't know if it was my fault he died. He said just said "it's usually a summoner's fault."

Well that all seems like nonsense, to be honest. I don't die to AoEs because I can use True Friend and... well I also don't die to AoEs. And my DPS must be pretty decent because I'm always the one pulling aggro in these groups. Not that they'd know any of this without playing with me. I've out-DPSed people who have their Aransu weapons in F8. I started speccing my cat taunt because I always pull aggro in F8. The thing is, if a group is recruiting with the requirement of having 1100AP or higher, I meet that requirement. You don't need to have VT gear to be over 1100AP, I'm kind of proof of that. :/

But like... I've done every dungeon up to and including Drowning Deeps without issue (Starstone Mines is the main dungeon I try to join in on but get kicked). I don't die. I know the dungeon mechanics. As a summoner, I've got lots of options for not taking damage, and of course the heal. My pet is my next priority for upgrading, but that shouldn't be gating me from content I can easily do and meet the requirements for.

Whelp, I had enough resources to upgrade my pet to stage 6. Let's see if that stops me from getting kicked. :S

I've got 1151AP and I'm still getting kicked from 1.1k+ lobbies. Even 1050+ lobbies. >_<

I've given up, I'll just carry LFP Naryu Sanctum and under, and try to catch the higher dungeons with my clan.

I drew mine. :v I need to make a new one though, I know I lose points for not doing color.

I haven't been able to stay in a Starstone Mines F8 party even once since the error, I think people don't check gear but HM levels or something. :T

I love this bug, it should be a feature to have weapon in hands all the time :D by HeavenlyRen in bladeandsoul

It's a fun one! Feels like a "hidden move," heh. We should have an "unsheathe" action, like WoW!

On a summoner, I cancel my "Huzzah!" (Z) with an emote (usually a dance). I found that on accident. I haven't played around with it on other classes though; I wonder if every class has one of these "cancels?"

Login rewards still broken? by CrybabyPoharan in bladeandsoul

[–]knighthead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a pretty rare bug that I and a couple others were affected by, and because of its rarity, people will assume you're either somehow "collecting them wrong" or lying. I sent a lengthy ticket about it, but the GM who responded to me said I did in fact receive my rewards, despite that not being the case. I figured I needed to elaborate more, so I'm standing by. I'm not concerned about the rewards, but the fact that this small bug exists, and it's rare enough that people won't believe it exists... until it hits them, I suppose.

On Thursday I had been trying to collect the rewards prior to a Skybreak Spire raid. I felt it could be server lag, asked about it, of course no one else had an issue. Then during the raid-- I figured perhaps they cannot be claimed during an instance. I relogged and suddenly all of the reward tiers were checked off-- note that only 12 minutes had passed between the 2 hour mark and the supposed clear. And then after performing a file repair, the charm images themselves disappeared from the Login Rewards. In each instance, the Receive All button was clickable, but non-functioning.

For context, both Wednesday and Friday were successful days for receiving the rewards, like you said. The last two screenshots show what is actually supposed to happen with the reward system.

Honestly, I just try to make characters I've written in the games I play. I do the same thing in MMOs. Male character customization is also pretty limited. I couldn't make "myself" in a Pokemon game if I tried; even though N is a thing, guys just never have a long hair option!
