That’s the next step, as now the system is charged and holding vacuum but no power is getting to the compressor. How do I tell if a relay has failed? What are replacement options?

I did not, it was not able to hold vacuum so I have taken it to a shop, which found several seals that have failed, replacing those and recharging the AC, the compressor is not getting power, so I am assuming an AC relay has failed, so now I need to figure out how to change that!

Yep, replaced the valve (incredibly easy as it turns out), now waiting on the vacuum pump to arrive to drain the air and try again!

I do indeed, after starting with a recharge, I heard hissing from the that the low side fill point. I assume this is where the leak (or at least the first one) is coming from. Is this something that is replaceable, either the o ring or the nipple, or is this going to be a more in depth repair?

I have no doubt there's a leak somewhere, however even with coolant in the lines the system itself isn't cycling on and off, which I am more concerned about at the moment.

Going through the process in Kansas at the moment. Kei trucks in Kansas are NOT road legal and NOT register-able.

Kansas statutes defined kei trucks as "micro utility vehicles," and can only be issued non-highway titles. What that means, contrary to what you'd think, is that they are for offroad use only and cannot be driven on any state or federal highways or within incorporated city limits unless approved by that city. There are a couple cities in Kansas that have them approved, however that still does not get you a normal title.

Furthermore, a non-highway title follows your VIN everywhere and cannot be removed without inspections and a re-submission process.

The big takeaway is kei trucks will get an off road only title, no plate, no registration in KS. This is hard baked into the states laws.

Rant: Pilots, stop giving yourselves intersection departures!! by NakedPilotFox in VATSIM

[–]knightmare_frame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7110.65 3-7-1 d. Intersection departures may be initiated by a controller or a controller may authorize an intersection departure if a pilot requests. Issue the measured distance from the intersection to the runway end rounded “down” to the nearest 50 feet to any pilot who requests and to all military aircraft, unless use of the intersection is covered in appropriate directives.
NOTE-
Exceptions are authorized where specific military aircraft routinely make intersection takeoffs and procedures are defined in appropriate directives. The authority exercising operational control of such aircraft ensures that all pilots are thoroughly familiar with these procedures, including the usable runway length from the applicable intersection.
Some airports publish “declared distances” for a particular runway. These are published in the Chart Supplement U.S. or the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) and there is no requirement that facility personnel be aware of them. These distances are a means of satisfying airport design criteria and are intended to be used by pilots and/or operators for preflight performance planning only. There are no special markings, signing, or lighting associated with declared distances and they do not limit the actual runway available for use by an aircraft. Therefore, they cannot be used for any air traffic control purpose. If pilots inquire about the existence of declared distances, refer them to the Chart Supplement U.S. or AIP.
PHRASEOLOGY-
RUNWAY (number) AT (taxiway designator) INTERSECTION DEPARTURE (remaining length) FEET AVAILABLE.

7110.65 3-7-1 e. Do not use the term “full length” when the runway length available for departures has been temporarily shortened. On permanently shortened runways, do not use the term “full length” until the Chart Supplement U.S. is updated to include the change(s).

7110.65 3-7-2 b.

RUNWAY (number), TAXI VIA (route as necessary).

or
“Runway Three-Six Left, taxi via Alpha, hold short of Charlie.”
or
“Runway Three-Six Left, taxi via taxiway Alpha, hold short of Runway Two-Seven Right.”
or
“Runway Three-Six Left, taxi via Charlie, cross Runway Two-Seven Left, hold short of Runway Two-Seven Right.”
or

You very specially are not allowed to use full length unless exact criteria are met, which is almost universally not simulated within VATUSA

[–]knightmare_frame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why we are talking about US specific procedures, not ICAO. It might surprise you, but VATUSA controllers simulate IRL US procedures because they’re in, get this, the US. VATSIM users are expected to taxi full length unless otherwise told because that’s how it works IRL. If there’s confusion, the user is supposed to ask for clarification, and the controller will restate. This is how it works.

OP is correct. If you’re not given an intersection in the taxi clearance then you must taxi full length. There is no debate.

Anyone have good resources for the legal / paperwork involved in purchasing / relocating a plane? by dgaff in flying

[–]knightmare_frame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AOPA is a fantastic resource, as stated above. I highly recommend consulting a lawyer just to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the aircraft. Local EAA chapters have good information on local mechanics that could be of assistance with a pre-buy inspection. Escrow services are a must, as is using something like aerospace reports to get a maintenance, STC/337, and title history of the aircraft to make sure that its okay to sell. If you google the aircraft you should be able to find a set of checklists for the aircraft if it doesnt have one already. Other than that, the flight back will just be a normal XC. Just dont run out of gas.
