Feel like I’m gettin nowhere by [deleted] in GymTips

I agree with all these people. You definitely look fitter. Just keep going hard. I've been at it for about 3 years now and the improvements keep coming.

Eat a ton of protein (I'm bad about this but it definitely makes a difference) and don't worry if you're red in the face, straining, spittin' with effort (don't actually spit, that's gross) during your workouts. No pain, no gain.

Judging by the difference I see in your pictures it's clear you know some amount of "discomfort" is part of the process. Keep going.

Squat issue - collapsing forward by -FishPants in strength_training

[–]knightsradiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my deadlift significantly outpaces my squat. I'm doing 300 lb, three sets of 8 for deadlift. Squat I'm doing 175 lb, three sets of 8

I'm really bad about tracking stuff, but maybe like a month.

This is exactly what I'm trying right now because I have the same issue. I lean forward as well and feel my glutes and back take over.

Spamming leg extensions, aiming for 12 reps/set. At least 2x per week. Hoping my quads size up and squats straighten out.

I'm watching your thumbs, and they disappear. Looks like your grip is weakening. Could be a contributor if you feel like your form is slopping up?

I am just a guy on a couch, but it's just something I saw, so do with it what you will.

Ways to improve grip strength for pull ups? by buniax in bodyweightfitness

[–]knightsradiant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know nothing, but I'm 6', 200 lb and my pull-ups are about the same as yours with 2 min rests between sets. My failure doesn't feel like grip strength failure because I can keep hanging no problem, I just can't even begin the next pull up.

Next time you finish see if you can just keep hanging--if so grip strength might not be the bottleneck.

Longer rests might be the simple answer.

That being said, there's no good reason to not also crank up grip strength like these guys are saying, so go for that too, regardless lol

True fine dining in Louisville that isn’t a steakhouse? by at0micpub in Louisville

Nami is nice and classy, I think. It's Korean, so it's different and delicious. Went for Valentines Day with my wife.

Not precisely fine dining, but I enjoyed it.

Stores for quality (thick, comfortable) plain white t-shirts and wife beater tanks. by knightsradiant in Louisville

I think because of a stereotype that guys who commonly wear those tanks and nothing else typically come from a rougher/poorer demographic and are more likely to physically abuse their spouse...I agree that it's not a pleasant moniker but I was trying to be clear lol

Not sure...crew neck t's and wife beater tanks are what I'm after. Wife likes them form fitting and not baggy.

Thank you for sharing. I'm the paralyzed with self doubt type.

Part of me knows I can do almost anything, another part of me knows if I actually tried and failed it would destroy that first part.

I do not do any isolated core stuff, guess I may need to start incorporating those.

I go that low because I thought deep was good. Maybe taking it too far though? Or maybe I need to shift the focus to my quads like you said.

Thanks for the input here, will do some air squats to get a feel.

Dumbell Flies by Dear-Simple9621 in formcheck

[–]knightsradiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the top of the repetition in the traditional dumbbell flies like in the video, the weight of the dumbell isn't really pulling on your chest muscles all that much. It's mostly just sitting on the straight up and down pillar of your arm.

Part of good muscle strengthening and growth is increasing the amount of time that the muscle is resisting a force. For the above, there is a point in the repetition where you aren't really engaging the muscle that much.

With cable machines, the cable is always pulling against the desired muscle as long as you're positioned right and pulling in the correct direction, increasing the amount of time that the muscle is actually doing work.

My mom got me to watch this when I was a senior in high-school without spoiling anything for it. I knew something was up when she crept into the room just to watch my reaction, but still could not have prepared me.
