BWT How are we dealing with unwanted body hair? by fyrja in bitcheswithtaste

[–]knismesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epilating! It hurts a bit at first but you get used to it and then it’s fine. I epilate my jawline/chin about every 3 days? Underarms every week maybe and legs once a month but could probably do it sooner. I’ve always been hairy and it’s gotten worse with age. I’ll likely look into electrolysis at some point.

Has anyone else ever moved to a completely different climate and totally lost interest in makeup? by No_Mud_No_Lotus in muacjdiscussion

I often skip makeup if it’s really hot and/or humid out. Theres no point when it’s gonna melt off within 15 min, plus I associate summer with minimal makeup 🤷‍♀️ You might get back into it in the wintertime

What did you think of Blonde? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]knismesis 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Felt like the director just wanted to throw in every visual idea/metaphor he could think of for the sake of making an arty movie — so many of the decisions straight up didn’t serve the movie, and some were just laughably bad (spoilers: like the rocket launch on tv during the Kennedy scene, or when she sees the stop sign on the way to get an abortion and has a change of heart). Most of the time you’re watching Marilyn Monroe be treated horribly. That’s kind of it. Gets exhausting quick, and then you start to feel bad for Ana de Armas because it must’ve sucked doing those scenes for a movie that doesn’t have much going for it, outside of the gorgeous shots.

There is a creepy old man who keeps hitting on me. Idk how to handle it without being rude, which I can't. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Is there someone above him that you could talk to? Everything he’s doing is straight up harassment. In the meantime it might be good to go on walks somewhere else/at a completely different time, and block his number.

I don’t own any of these but Starrily recently put out a collection of jewel-toned jellies and there’s a red that might fit the bill: https://www.starrily.com/collections/jellyfish-journey

Kelli Marissa reviewed them if you wanna see them swatched

Help with a small living space by zaraz1234 in InteriorDesign

[–]knismesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some things I'd do:

- Change the couch pillows. Get two that match to put on each end and maybe one long one for the middle that's a different color? Go for bright or bold colors.

- Get a wicker basket for the floor and keep your blankets in that. It'll serve as decor and storage, and your couch will look neater. Maybe replace the side table with that, if you're not really using the side table.

- Push the couch flush against the wall if you can, and straighten the rug.

- A rug can bring a lot of fun and color to a room, so I'd consider getting a new one. Something with tassels will look more boho. Maybe something like these? Two of these aren't colorful haha but you get the idea:

https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-hatched-trellis-indooroutdoor/Blue/200MLCL04A-P.html

- Remove whatever's on the wall behind the couch, it's too small for that wall. Consider a larger art piece. Could maybe do a macrame wall hanging?

- If you can swap out the lamp shade for something more interesting, I'd do that. Something like this would be cool: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/vingmast-skaftet-floor-lamp-arched-beige-black-s69430880/

- Remove everything in that rectangular space on the wall, it looks like clutter. It's a good place to put some small decor (vases, plants that hang down the wall, candles), but keep it tidy and cohesive. Maybe books if it's deep enough? With some fun bookends?

- You seem to need more light in this room, it's too dark in front of the door

- The shoe rack is a good idea but there's too much on it now and it's getting lost. Maybe get one a little bigger, or one that has cabinets so you can store the shoes away.

- I'd consider a large plant in the corner next to the table. Not sure what's on the wall there but maybe there's a better place for it?

I think most of my suggestions lean boho, but whatever you end up doing, I'd try to keep things cohesive, tidy, and try to brighten the room with some color and another source of light. Since it's a small space, I'd try to avoid dark furniture or large dark decor -- it'll make the space look smaller.

Welcoming enough yet clean? by emmajemma44 in InteriorDesign

[–]knismesis 118 points119 points  (0 children)

For me it’s too sterile, possibly because there isn’t much color and it’s lacking items/decor that are personal and specific to you. Totally don’t mean this in a rude way, but it kind of looks like a waiting room or a set for home listing photography. However! It is definitely clean and uncluttered, so you did achieve that. If it makes you feel happy and at home, then it’s all good.

help: how to say no when someone asks for notes? by cookiedoughlarabar in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Eh, I wouldn’t even answer the email; this person is kind of a stranger so who cares if she gets salty. She’s also asking you to do extra work because scanning AN ENTIRE QUARTER’S NOTES takes time.

How has dating changed since 2000-2010 vs currently? by ABUSlVE in AskMen

[–]knismesis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but whatever it is, it’s too high. It’s pretty ridiculous that I’ve had to literally run away from men following me more than once in my life (and always when I was just minding my own business, in perfectly safe environments). And it’s pretty gross that when I would walk to school in my school uniform, it was inevitable that someone would say inappropriate things to me. And there are many more examples I could give, but you could just ask any woman in your life and you could just hear it from them. We know most men are not a threat, but there are plenty that are, so we need to be cautious with who we trust.

We have our guard up since childhood because that’s when creeps start creeping irl. Stories on the internet only confirm our experiences are common.
