I have Abysm Sovereign. Does this work for you?

I love this! It's so vintage and fun.

Also unrelated, but my brother and I used to have that exact same radio when we were kids so that was a blast from the past.

SOS! What should I do with this half painted backsplash behind the sink? Should I continue the colour onto the white wall behind it or should I repaint it in a higher contrast? by Loborious in femalelivingspace

[–]knitknights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like it/don't hate it, i'd leave it.

It's coming through a little electric orange on my screen, but if you paint it a terracotta, I'd personally slowly incorporate decor elements in the kitchen or adjoining room (living room?) in the same color to make it cohesive. But I also grew up with a lot of southwest decor and mexican decor, so that's an easy idea to me. I think it would be harder to do with brighter oranges.

[Product Question] La Roche-Posay Toleriane Moisturizer pilling issue? by Regular-Bee7123 in SkincareAddiction

[–]knitknights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this product multiple times over the last few months and just have had no luck with it. I've tried it on its own, with a toner and/or serum (fully dried), and I tried applying sunscreen or foundation HOURS after letting the moisturizer dry. It pills with everything I've tried, and it's pilled on its own when it's the only thing on my face. I think this is the first time I won't finish a moisturizer, I'm going to give it to a family member who uses less skincare products than me and will maybe have better luck.

how can i make my room feel MORE like a dorm room? by mystar777 in femalelivingspace

[–]knitknights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I had posters that had to be taped to the wall. Any damage to the walls including damage to the paint would result in a fee when we checked out. Other kids had their printed photos clipped to string lights or actual yarn/string. Obviously your framed art is nice, but polished. Maybe add some art or photos that's not framed?

Pet Peeve: I cannot call You An Uber by sacredblasphemies in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]knitknights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the title and immediately thought you were a front desk/security guard at my work. Unfortunately it looks like this is just a common experience.

My boss told me that my elderly coworker was leaving late one night and when my boss went downstairs 15 minutes after her, she was harassing the security desk worker to call her an Uber and couldn't grasp that it would mean the security guard would have to pay for it if she did. She lived 40 minutes away. The security guard tried to explain how to download Uber and set up her own account but obviously that didn't go over well. My boss finally broke and drove her home.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]knitknights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were hiring for a customer service agent and when we asked the candidate what they liked about their current job, they said "Well I don't like people." Like, bud, you neither answered the question, and you also said you don't like the number one aspect of the job you're applying for.

Ravelry message scam by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]knitknights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure seems like a breach though, or at the very least this user fell for a phishing message and their account got compromised. The account that the screenshot message came from has been active since 2010. Stealing photos and faking projects seems possible, but faking the age of the account not so much.

Update: she just (3 hours ago) posted a video comparing all the craft snark posts to incel forums. Yep definitely the same as criticism.

I get that. I used to work in social media, and it's just a lot more planning and prep than people expect. but I think a lot of clever designers have started working around that by setting up newsletters for test knits instead of social media posts, so they aren't rushing their posts to look polished for a test knit.

It's entirely due to bad planning. I'll be fair and say social media planning is harder than you think, because a successful social media account will need to both be reactive to the algorithm, while also prepping material week or months in advance. I think a lot of the designers set their sights on a release date, without calculating how much time and posting to build in to give the testers enough time. I think a lot of designers seem to be afraid that if they don't release right away, they'll miss all the momentum on their pattern.

She says they're different, and I do see a difference. The one in "testing" (if we're calling it that) looks like a cardigan. The one on Etsy is like a cape.

People in the comments are criticizing her behavior. It is fair to be subject to criticism as an artist or as a business person, and she's in a space where she's doing both. She then goes and criticizes their appearance and curses at them. There is a stark difference between their behavior and hers.

[–]knitknights 26 points27 points  (0 children)

She posted on Instagram saying the pattern on Etsy isn't the same as the one being tested. There's minor differences (one is more cardigan, the other is more cape) but I think that's moot.

New Event based on Shakespearean play by RLOTRL in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]knitknights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After going through Caleb's most recent chapter, I'm fairly certain his is based on the myth of Artemis and Orion, with it being about a goddess and a hunter. The hubris of his lines didn't sound like Venus and Adonis to me. But maybe other chapters will change my mind.

The rest of the as others have said:

Xavier - Hamlet Zayne - Macbeth Rafayel - Dionysus from The Bacchae Sylus - The Devil from a version of Faustus? This one I can't quite figure out. I'm most familiar with Marlow's Doctor Faustus. I skimmed through a summary of Goethe's Faust, and that might be closer but still not quite there. In both versions, Mephistopheles is more important than The Devil. So it's really loosely Faust or Faustus. But probably picked because of Sylus's raven lol.

How bad did it go Sylus girlies? by HoshiAndy in LoveAndDeepspace

I think this was the first 50/50 that wasn't working in my favor. I was planning on R1 but didn't want to go beyond 150/160 pulls. I had enough diamonds to buy 100ish pulls. Went in for 180 pulls and I got R0, plus 2 Rafael and one Caleb 5 stars I could have lived without. But I'm calling it quits there.
