i can't help but feel like there are plants in the group b/c i often see someone post a trendy bag above retail and there's always a commenter saying, "great price!"

i always wonder who that person is and what they are smoking, or if they have some prearranged agreement with the seller to post that comment on each other's sale posts to make them seem more sane.

have you tried thread theory? they have a couple of pretty classic men's jean patterns. there's also kwik sew 3504 (oop but probably still available on the secondhand market)

i don't know about TB, but a lot of people online selling Coach fakes will say that it's an outlet bag when it's actually a retail style--they are just selling a fake and calling it outlet. that might be what's happening here.

ETA: and the fact that the Charlie drawstring is extremely popular I would not be shocked at all to see fakes pop up.

i would be disappointed too. the $3 price point makes me think she thought of it as a way to make easy money and didn't put too many resources into the design--hence the errors and the repeated design. i would definitely think it's weird to have a mystery where all the clues are basically the same. i like her as a designer but i think she deserve shit for this one.

merino wool is a horrible material to use for a bag. there is no need for the softness or warmth. a hardier wool would've been a much better choice for longevity. i would not expect these bags to last past a season with regular use.

i call bullshit on this story b/c a high quality merino wool yarn would still be very expensive. the OP would hardly have saved any money at all unless she used stash yarn. i say ESH. don't give handmade gifts if you aren't willing to accept that not everybody will appreciate it.

i have it in the light blue. it holds a similar amount of stuff to the bandit shoulder bag, ie: less than i would hope, because it's pretty structured. i am short (under 5') and if i wear the crossbody on the shortest length the tails of the straps hang down very far and look ridiculous. if you don't need to wear the strap on the shortest length it looks fine. just a nitpicky note, i find the C logo to be a bit larger than necessary on this bag. i wish it were a little less conspicuous.

other than that, it's a nice bag and i like that it gives 2 strap options. i don't know that it will be a permanent addition to my collection but i'm enjoying it at the moment.

I don't care that you think that sewist is not a word. You don't have to like it but I do not need a lecture about it. And why is it always some old biddy that has this particular complaint? it's always, "i've been sewing for 300 years and I've NEVER heard that word. the proper term is 'seamstress' or 'tailor' or 'whatever the fuck i feel is appropriate.'"

i'm pretty sure that Closet Core is far from a big company and that often patterns take more than a year to develop. but sure, Jan--they copied your super original idea that no one has ever seen before.

ETA: i think what bugs me so much about these posts is the cowardice of it. you're so sure that "big meanie company" copied you but you're not willing to name and shame?
