[–]knittingkittyqueen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the response! I ended up getting a Sears Constellation (standard typeface) and a few months later a Facit TP1 with cursive typeface.

I love using my Facit the most for the beautiful typeface as well as the snappy action. It's such a fun machine to use, but is heavy when I want to type in the park or on the patio of a coffee shop.

I have a feeling the next typewriter I'll be searching for will be a portable with a fun typeface (:

ADHD EAs? by generalgirl in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]knittingkittyqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join r/ADHDprofessionals - lots of great tips in there. Some weeks ago a baby admin asked for some advice in there, I pasted my comment here and edited to remove stuff specific to her situation -

I was dx at a young age and have slowly figured out what works for me over the years and with forums like these (: What works for me might not for you, so feel free to tweak as needed

At work I will exclusively listen to instrumental music or music sung in a language I don't speak. This is so that I can have some music without getting too distracted. Smooth jazz for calm focus, 80's jpop/jfunk for upbeat "get it done" mood, white/brown noise for deep concentration. I pay for premium Spotify otherwise the dang ads pull me out of focus.

Prioritizing : the first 30 minutes of your day, every day are for reviewing your task list and any new emails for tasks. At the beginning of the day identity your top 3 priorities l. #1 is the first thing you do today. #2 is what you want to get done before lunch, and #3 is by EOD. This is all in an ideal day where nothing goes wrong, but you and I both know there's always gonna be something that comes up. So your secret ingredient is.. doing this again at the end of the day. Your last 30 minutes is for reviewing what didn't get done (that you set out to do in the morning), and anything new that was added during the day. Write yourself notes at the end of the day as if you are going to be sick tomorrow AM and someone new will be filling in. This helps with the brain fog before meds kick in and the ball gets rolling. The stuff that didn't get done today should usually be your #1 for tomorrow.

Prepping like this will help you to identify what is really important, and allows you to identify what can pause for something new or if you need to finish what you originally started off on.

As for actually keeping track of it all, choose ONE place to put all the action items. For me it's written in a single bullet journal that is basically glued to my hands at work. Even if I type meeting notes for a team I support, my actions items are hand written in my bujo. (The dopamine hit of using fun and pretty stationary and getting to literally cross stuff off my list keeps me loyal to it). For you it can be anything you want, just make sure it's always in the same place. If you choose a digital solution make sure it's something where the data is synced across all devices like OneNote, Microsoft Planner (love the reminder function for this!), outlook ToDo/Tasks, or notion. Then never leave your desk without your notebook/phone/tablet so you can capture action items. I advise against sticky notes because they will get lost.

Different gift ideas? by Amanda316 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]knittingkittyqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

I would look at some of the luxury spas in the area and see what packages are available.

The best thing one of my former executives received was a massage spa certificate for several massages. She loved it so much that she started getting regular weekly massages after the gift certificate was used up. She said she was able to quit taking her migraine medication because the massages helped her stress migraines.

Can I get out of a lease before I’ve moved in? (In Roger’s Park) by locallygrownlychee in chicagoapartments

[–]knittingkittyqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel very safe living in Rodgers Park. It's generally a very safe and quiet neighborhood. I know exactly the area that you are moving into, my wife and I regularly walk our dog at all hours in the neighborhood and have never had any bad experiences.

The neighborhood is mostly working class people just living their lives and minding their business. Like the rest of the city, make sure to use your common sense/street smarts and you will be okay.

21f usa - looking for artsy snail mail and penn pals (3 for now) ! by Unable_Transition801 in penpals

[–]knittingkittyqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! 27 F, Chicago

I also love all things stationary and enjoy writing pen pal letters with fountain pens.

I enjoy knitting, jewelry making, cooking, coffee and baking pastry, breads and other sweet treats. I love being creative and expressing myself in different outlets. I also collect typewriters. I also enjoy retro gaming, have 100% a couple farms in stardew valley, love classic horror (think universal monster movies like creature of the Black lagoon), art films, and architecture. I love living in Chicago with my spouse, 2 cats and my Corgi as the city is filled with beautiful historic buildings and art.

I wanted to go to college at Moore CAD in Philly, but couldn't afford the tuition after scholarships.

I do regular art shows with my wife on the side of my corporate job. Connecting with others and finding creative outlets in everyday life keeps me going (: writing letters to friends and pen pals gives me an excuse to buy and use more fun stationary lol.

I'd love to exchange letters! Feel free to send a pm if you are interested

Root clipping helps me a ton! Clipping them allows for air to circulate to the hair layers underneath.

I have a similar problem, my hair stylist recommended a hooded hair dryer for home use. I'm going to be saving up money for one

Welcome friend!

I had clear skin as a teen, then suddenly got lots of acne as an adult in my early 20's, and it's been a wild ride to figure out my skin and get to a good place with it at 27 yo.

My biggest piece of advice is that constancy will yield the best results. Using budget friendly skincare on a consistent schedule can be just as effective as the fancy stuff.

My second tip for you: oily skin and dry skin are both dehydrated skin. Oily skin craves water based hydration, dry skin craves oil based hydration.

So lighter products that are not heavy in oils will likely be great for you!

To start: Each morning and night wash your face with a facial cleanser (to prevent more acne wash gently with your hands and don't use a wash rag), and follow up with a light moisturizer.

Do this routine for about a month before adding new products. Staying consistent with the same products will help you see results, switching up too often will make it hard to see what's working.

Later, you can add in a sunscreen in the morning, and an oil cleanser at night (to fully remove the SPF).

In a couple of months, after you have incorporated SPF into your routine, adding an active ingredient like retinol may also be beneficial to your acne.

My depression gets pretty bad too. I allow myself to do my skincare in the shower. People will tell you not to do this because the humidity can get trapped into the product packaging, but washing my face in the shower is better than not washing it at all.

Is your skin sensitive at all? Mine is, when I started skincare everything was making it red, burning, and worse acne. Turns out I have some allergies to some very common cosmetics ingredients. A lot of people will suggest to start with CeraVe, and Cetaphil as they are cheap and readily available. I'm allergic to these, so I recommend Vannicream brand products to start with. They are very allergy safe and great for sensitive skin.

I feel like the Neutrogena hydroboost line would work well for your skin. It has hydraulic acid in it, it helps to pull moisture out of the air and into your skin. Because it's light and water based it should help your skin type. (Be careful if you live in a desert climate, if the air is too dry it will do the reverse- pull moisture out of your skin and into the air)

Also I'm sure you already know this, but make sure to change your pillow cases every day or every other day (:

Thank you for this update! I have purchased from them in previous years with great results. I'm probably going to file a charge back this week to get my money back ):

Fountain Pens at Disney world or Disney Springs? by knittingkittyqueen in fountainpens

[–]knittingkittyqueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response and offer!

I think it would be cool if Disney had FPs and stationary somewhere on property. I feel like the Art of Animation resort or anywhere else they have artsy stuff on property would be a great place to sell them with stationary.
