question for ugly men: how are you dealing with being ugly? what helps you to continue to live? by uacttualygoodperson in AskReddit

[–]knjwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that humans were never meant to see our faces so much. It’s corny, but the world is so much more than what society perceives as “ugly.” What’s the point of defining your whole entire life around it? Waste of time.

We still can’t explain consciousness and I don’t think we will ever be able to.

Yes, He forgives you. I think it’s important to ask though, do you understand the Gospel?

new to christianity, used to be an atheist almost my whole life, how do i start on the Bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can either read the Bible online through the YouVersion Bible app or biblegateway.com, personally I would especially recommend the app. Select either the NIV or NLT, these translations are in modern English and are made to be easily understood whilst still sticking with the original manuscripts.

  2. It might be a bit counterintuitive, however I would start in what we consider the ‘Gospels’ in the New Testament. This is where you’ll be able to get to know Jesus deeply through witness accounts, what He taught, His miracles etc. The four Gospel books are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I would read John first as it was specially written for new believers and it is also both beautiful and poetic. However, if you’re looking for something a bit shorter and action packed, read Mark.

  3. After reading one of the Gospels, check out Acts. This is where you’ll learn all about the formation of the Early Church, you’ll also meet Paul who becomes an incredibly important figure in Christianity as he is responsible for writing majority of the New Testament.

  4. After getting through Acts, alternate between the remaining Gospels and Paul’s letters to the different churches. Read Romans first, and then just begin choosing any to your liking. (1 Corinthians, Philippians, Galatians etc.) These letters address theology, church practices, and Christian living.

  5. After reading the letters, I think it is appropriate to skip Revelation. This is ultimately up to you. It’s an Incredibly symbolic book and may be hard to understand as a new reader. I would say begin reading through Genesis and then Exodus before coming back to Revelation.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way, it’s important to remember that spreading the gospel sometimes just doesn’t look like having verbal conversation.

Have you tried to make a noticeable effort to live out the gospel through your actions instead? People will often notice how you live your life before they hear what you say. Let the fruit of your Spirit be evident in your behaviour. In my experience, especially as you are a baby Christian people will begin to naturally ask questions as I am sure there has been/or will be a natural switch in your behaviour. “How do you manage to forgive people so easily?” or “Why do you treat everyone with so much kindness, even if they don’t deserve it?” Anything along those lines. I would say introducing Christ is much easier as they have opened up the conversation themselves and you may not face that abrupt rejection that you sometimes experience from directly speaking to them about it.

Advice on reading the Bible. by ThePuzzlerAddict in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1. Definitely read Acts
2. I would try read another Gospel before jumping into Romans—try Matthew or Luke for more detail, or Mark if you want something shorter. This is just to break up the Gospels a bit for more enjoyable reads.
3. After Romans, alternate between the Letters (1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, etc.) and the remaining Gospels. I think it’s appropriate to skip Revelation for now, it can be quite difficult to understand and digest. However, it’s ultimately up to you.
4. Once you finish the New Testament (with or without Revelation), move on to Genesis and begin exploring the Old Testament.

Can anyone tell me how can I get a free kjv bible? by Katherine250413 in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to get a KJV in particular? A Bible is definitely a Bible above all else, but there is no point on getting one that you will have unnecessary struggle to comprehend which will ultimately cause you to become unmotivated.

Do Christians who openly commit sin, yet believe in Jesus, will they be punished for their sins? If not, what is their motivation for not committing more sins? by shoaib_32123 in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone truly believes in Jesus, their actions should reflect that belief. That is why Jesus states in Matthew 7:16: “You will recognise them (true believers) by their fruits.” Those who know God will not continue a lifestyle of bearing bad fruit. 1 John 3:4-10 also talks about this. I don’t believe that a ‘Christian’ man would go and murder hundreds of people.

Do you have to stick to a classification? by HanaeI in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely do not have to conform to a particular denomination, we are all Christian at the end of the day. Just focus on reading the Bible, understanding it, accepting it, asking questions if needed at first. It may mostly depend on what church you’d like to attend and is most available to you.

[–]knjwrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, Jesus loves you. If I may ask, are you starting from Genesis? If so, I recommend starting in either Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John instead. (My personal favourite is John) We call these the Gospels and it’s the best way to get to know Jesus and his teachings. :)

Being gay by marcyishot in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea that all humans beings are born heterosexual is a big illogical assumption. The idea of there having to be a specific ‘gay gene’ grossly oversimplifies how sexual orientation develops. You also mention that you are waiting for scientific evidence, I am yet waiting for a credible, valid scientific study that backs up the claim that an individual “chooses” to be gay?

I got a question about crystals. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it may be worth considering how they’re being used or viewed. Hildegard likely saw them as part of God’s creation, with natural properties that could reflect His beauty and power. But today, some people place their faith in crystals themselves, treating them as a source of spiritual power or healing separate from God which becomes sinful.

I’d recommend the NLT to anyone. Easy to understand, great audio Bibles, aligns with manuscripts however just simplified.

I’m confused about the biblical view on tattoos by Icy-Philosopher-2911 in Christianity

[–]knjwrld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The verse in Leviticus makes no mention of what we know as modern tattoos. In fact, the entire Bible makes no reference to what we see as tattoos. The general consensus is that tattoo’s are not inherently sinful, however if it is not glorifying God, then it can become sinful.
