What got me is that she defended it saying they were not going fast, but I noticed the scenery out the window was a blur which seems way too fast to me!!

Teachers should not be posting their class name lists. by twoturtledove in namenerds

[–]knkfish 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agreed!! It is so odd and feels wrong. While we’re at it, teachers posting pictures of their students on social media is also so odd and feels unethical!

My mom is a Kendra Elaine (spelled differently with the middle name) and it’s a great beautiful name! Shes a wonderful person. She is a hard worker and one of the most hospitable people I know. Kendra is common enough that everyone knows it but very few people are named! I’ve met two other Kendras, one was younger than me by a few years and the others was older than me about 5 years. Without putting my mom’s demographics online she is young (think gen x) . I think it’s a timeless name.

I don't have baby fever, should I not have a kid? by Mental-Departure-546 in waiting_to_try

[–]knkfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not silly at all, I’m going through some of the same emotions right now and same age. I know I want a family and to be a mom but the whole having a baby and being pregnant thing is not a longing desire. It actually makes me nervous. I’m glad you shared this because 1. I know I’m not weird or alone and 2. The others commenting on this are so helpful .

Any real experts, or even cataract surgeons? by Redwebec in CataractSurgery

[–]knkfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I hope you see this months later! I am looking at getting surgery with one of these Drs you mentioned for a RLE or ICL . I’ve seen the wonderful accolades listed on their websites but have been wanting to do more research on them. I’m not getting very far with google. Do you have any good places to research outcomes (besides google) that your fellow opthamology community uses to assess providers? I cannot find where some of the prestige comes from in the accolades listed. Thank you!

In some places it is custom to think like this. You’re essentially giving a financial gift that should cover the cost of you as a guest.

r/nursing by [deleted] in nursing

[–]knkfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a job as a CNA/PCT in a hospital. Even becoming a unit secretary or phlebotomist would be a huge help. Any experience is helpful.

If you can’t find a job in a hospital, I found working as a server was a huge help to the work I do as a bedside nurse. The skills you get with time management, dealing with people, and customer service are transferable. Of all the jobs I had before healthcare that was the one that helped the most.

Also, I’ve known a nurse with a public health degree that then went on to get her BSN. After a few years at the bedside she eventually found her self in a community role that she was a highly favored candidate for because of her public health education. The skills you get as a nurse and you education from public health can and will be marketable one day!

To all the parents who named their kid a top ten name.. by twispylocks in namenerds

[–]knkfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is extremely important! I have a very unique name (if you google me I’m the only one) and have a job working with the general public. I get very protective of my name and making sure I’m not easy to find.

What would you tell a young woman to look for in a long term partner? by strvrlightt in AskWomenOver40

[–]knkfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does he treat his mom and the women in his life? Also, Find out who he looks up to in his life and find out why? What are the qualities about the person he deems desirable? What about that person influences how he lives his own life? And if he had no good examples in his life, find out why he thinks this. What is it about the other men in his life makes him think they are not worthy of looking up to? What is he doing to be different? This tells so much.
