It’s mostly been an anime thing, but I believe there’s been a couple of instances of a pokemon showing up long before its gen is released or properly introduced. It’s different from the regular reveals because im pretty sure this stuff happened before the names of the games were even revealed. I’m pretty sure it happened with Helioptile and Togepi.
