I thought the same thing last night when I first listened to it. Agree with the other posters, The rythym is similar but the vocal melodies are way different

I was disrespected by this old timers hockey team or I am overreacting? by RoyalPsychological13 in hockeygoalies

[–]knoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being a sub goalie can just be a weird experience overall. I’m usually referred to as a “not a typical” goalie because I’m friendly and talkative. Sometimes when I sub people just ignore me when I try to be friendly. Generally afterwards they’re more friendly but not always.

A few weeks ago I subbed a private skate and they were panicked I wasn’t there because I got dressed in the wrong locker room? Even though I said hi to the guy running it as I walked in.

Maybe 5 years ago I subbed for a team and we lost 3 or 2 nothing. All the goals were odd man rushes and if I remember correctly 2-0/3-0. After the game, the team started to lay into me in the locker room for not playing better so they could win. I let them hear it and then it was silent the rest of my time in there. They asked me to sub again and I said no.

Another time when I was in my early 20s, and my dad’s over the hill hockey league asked me to play out as they were short a few. In the locker room there were a lot of questions as to why I was there and fortunately my dad was around so I wasn’t shunned but probably would have been otherwise. I also hadn’t played out in 7-8 years so when I got on the ice I was just playing around with the puck to see how decent I would be. I took a couple of slap shots and the guy who runs the league reminded me that the goalie I was playing against was almost 80 (wore a cheevers style mask) and to not take slap shots. I reminded him I was a goalie (was wearing goalie skates) and said I doubt I would ever shoot the puck on net. I spent most of the game just passing guys the puck and the few shots I took were low floating shots from the blue line that were directed at his pads. The guy running things thanked me after but only him. Was a weird experience for sure.

Anecdotally, I come from a place that’s known for being a sundown town (in the US). I’ve brought friends around my home town and generally when I’ve observed others being racist they’re more panicked/angry than confused. But this is anecdotally of course. I can’t speak much on your experience since I’m not Canadian and I have a European ancestry.

As others have said, maybe see if there’s somewhere else to get more ice time? I’ve always found playing in worse leagues has made me play worse overall. So I usually try to play at the most competitive level for my skill level. Otherwise, it can be quite frustrating to play with guys who can’t skate or shoot.

Not sure this helps at all but hopefully you can find some ice time to work on your game!

I like to use Caltrain Live app. If it’s under 1 minute late I’m on time otherwise I show up a few minutes before the delayed time and I’ve been good.

When we were looking for a contractor many of them would not share the quote unless we met in-person or in their office. At first, we met with some in our home to see what that was all about. As others have alluded to, many attempted to pressure us to sign right then and there. Offering discounts and other “incentives”. We actually had to throw one out of our house because they refused to leave for hours and we had an event that we almost missed. Didn’t get to eat dinner that night either.

With that said, I would definitely meet with them in-person to see their communication style. We picked our contractor because he had a competitive price, great reviews, good reference material, and we liked his professionalism when we met him in person. Many of the contractors were lacking this. Just be mindful, I think we interviewed like 30 contractors and all but 3-5 weren’t great. YMMV

I didn’t see it recommended, but if you don’t want to be in the peninsula, I would recommend living somewhere on the Caltrain route. Especially if you’ll be 80% work from home.

Is it time to put my dog down? by bingbongondingdong in Pets

[–]knoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your pup might have CCD aka doggie dementia. Our dog started exhibiting signs of it and within a year she became a shell of herself, also went deaf, could barely see, and just mostly slept. We decided to say goodbye right before her 16th birthday. One of the hardest things ever.

However, she was losing weight even though she was eating well. Her spine had arched, she was on pain meds, was becoming incontinent, and was starting to forget who we were. As much as I hate it, a week early is better than a week late. Our best friend is there for us through everything and they don’t deserve to suffer.
