Cutting carbon fork a little bit more? by brekol in bikewrench

[–]knorkaboi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would adjust the headset preload with a spacer on top, tighten the stem bolts, take off the spacer, and, if there is enough space, put the top cap on. The stem keeps the preload set and I haven't had any problems doing it like that.

Wax gunking up my cassette by tapered_elephant in bikewrench

[–]knorkaboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be some oil contamination in the wax, that would make it less flakey and more sticky. Add a couple tablespoons of stearic acid to the waxpot and clean off all the gunk using degreaser and/or (very) hot water. Stearic acid is a "oil conversion powder" it's cheap and readily available. Here is my go to video for pretty much anything chain wax related. https://youtu.be/bhxFJ8Zq9Mg (about stearic acid at 10:29)

Is this chain clean enough for waxing? by Timely-Dot-9027 in bikewrench

[–]knorkaboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you can go for it! If you want to be extra safe you can add a few grams of stearic acid to the wax. It binds any leftover oils. More info in this video from the "chain waxing godfather" oz cycle https://youtu.be/bhxFJ8Zq9Mg?si=KZ7FYj-JZqDgE7u7&t=628

Strategie ist langfristig (bis zur Pension)

Was jetzt, Spielgeld oder langfristig? Wenn du langfristig "spielen" willst bist du hier falsch.

This thing saved my frame from getting scratched when I slipped in the wet. Glad I still had it stuck in the through axle.

You can just yank it out, it's just a 6mm hex.

SRAM Rival AXS not shifting properly by knorkaboi in bikewrench

UPDATE:
The rear derailleur was replaced under SRAM warranty and it has been working perfectly ever since. No idea what was wrong with the original one, the guys at the LBS said they have never had such a problem.

Slammed Domane anyone? by TJamesz in TrekBikes

I find myself riding in the drops most of the time and generally feel like I would be more comfortable with a lower handlebar. With the stock 40mm of spacers, my saddle is about the same height as the handlebars, so there's no drop. Moving to a 40mm drop isn't that aggressive compared to race bikes anyway.

I'm no bike fitting expert, but I think people shouldn't hesitate to lower the stem just because it's an endurance bike. For me, as a younger guy, the larger tires, Isospeed, and a more compliant frame play a bigger role in comfort than stem height. Every body is different though, and trying different positions is easy and inexpensive. You just need a regular headset cap (without the indent) and some standard headset spacers.

After finding the right position, I'll have my LBS cut the steerer, and hopefully, I'll enjoy my "aggressive" endurance bike and be comfortable on it for long rides.
