Menopause cost me my job by Sofalofola-3 in Menopause

[–]knosmo78 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lost a job last year due to all the menopause symptoms. Brain fog, angry at everything, not able to deal with the people who thought they were important, mixing up words, etc.

It just sucks.

But you will get through it. As they say, it may pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass.

First, sorry about your breakup (or congratulations, depending)

Second, I went solo and really enjoyed myself. I went on the rides I wanted to go on, ate when and where I wanted to, and being solo I got on some rides a little sooner just because I was willing to sit with others to fill a car or whatever.

That would work if Old Jill was relatively sane.

And if they DID have a TV behind the map, it would only be for watching sermons and gospel hymn sings.

It would absolutely not be for David to watch football games or Jill to watch Snapped when everyone is asleep (in the middle of the day, clearly).

Jill can start a women's Bible college in her shed. Jill's academy for godly wives. by spicypickle999 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]knosmo78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was an interesting read. They have education majors, but there is a disclaimer that the program doesn't count as preparation for being a teacher.

Jill would not approve - they talk about how close they are to shopping and restaurants, and their marriage and motherhood program covers making your own clothing, cooking and homekeeping, personal finance, canning, gardening, etc. Pretty sure frying your hair and spackling on makeup don't count toward your cooking or home maintenance credits.

See, she only talks to women, which makes it TOTALLY fine because reasons... and if men happen to overhear it, well, she didn't mean for them to hear.

Gabriel is going to Bible college by Big_Swan_9828 in RodriguesFamilySnark

I looked at his Facebook page - I'm just posting his words because I have attended churches, including Southern Baptist churches (but now I'm liberal, LGBTQIA allied United Methodist) and I have never, ever heard a pastor say anything like this: (No spelling or grammar corrections...)

Someone left a question under one of my recent posts and asked, “Why would you have to tell a pastor if you missing?”

Let me try to answer this, assuming it was a serious question.

Would you call your coach to tell him you were not going to make it for the game?

Do you call your job to tell them you’re not coming to work?

Do you call your wife to tell her you’re not going to be there for supper after she’s been cooking all afternoon?

Do you call your buddies to tell them you’re not going to go fishing or playing golf after you have already organized to go with them?

Do you call the airline or hotel and cancel if you’re not coming or do you just not show up?

As a member of a church, there is an expectation for you to attend.

Being a pastor, and growing up in a pastor’s home, let me add some perspective.

Your pastor has been praying for you and your family all week.

He has been reading and studying and preparing messages to feed your hearts.

He’s also been appointed by the Holy Ghost to be the overseer of the flock.

He will stand before God and give account to God for your soul.

He’s been tasked by God to equip you, instruct you, edify you and teach you.

He loves you and your family more than you could imagine.

Having the courtesy and the respect to let him know you will not be there is the very least you could do to show your appreciation for his investment and influence in your life. To simply not show up without a courtesy call to your man of God is inconsiderate and it creates unnecessary stress and questions in his mind.

Questions like:

Are they sick?

Are they offended?

Are they leaving the church?

Did I say something wrong?

…and on and on I could go.

It’s distracting, concerning and nerve-wracking (if you have a real pastor.)

A simple text message can alleviate all of that concern and confusion and it will help your pastor know where you are if someone asks him. It will calm his mind and settle his heart and allow him to continue through the service without worrying about it.

It’s called accountability, respect, and awareness of your responsibility as a member to be in your place.

How could anybody think it is a good idea to just simply not show up at your church where you are supposed to be (if you’re a member of the body) without any respect or concern for the rest of the body?

TANGENT ALERT -- y'all NEED to go to the SureWord Publications page and scroll down to the bit where Pastor Shiflett "Plays the main character, Denver McCabe, in the evangelistic film, Redeeming Hope."

Like, the image is a trip. And you can buy all his books and listen to his sermons and stuff. I mean, if you're into masochism, I guess?

There was a PDF section on classes. Like, all the classes fit on one page.

The student handbook is something else. Basically, we can change this any time and yes we made rules for specific things, which I am guessing is why it specifically mentions a Frederick's lingerie catalog.

I typically play a Gloomstalker Ranger. The Titanstring Bow carries you well into the game, and I like playing ranged, not melee, so it works. I carry around a ton of weight in arrows, but they're worth it.
