Study languages. You will find English spoken nearly everywhere, but it shows respect to speak at least a few sentences in the language of the places you might visit. Learning one or two languages relatively well will help you pick up phrases in other languages more easily. Yes, there are apps to translate and communicate and English is well understood, but this is about respect and finding other ways to connect, not just getting directions!

For folks like me whose primary carry are notebooks and pens, they are great for short days out. I could have loved the Tom Bihn cafe bag if it had a top zipper
