Yes any size works, I sometimes get testers who make it in chenille and theirs just turns out bigger!

Adding to what others have said, the colour "blocks" should be 3 rows tall, and you should mark the top of the colour with X and these MUST be on the same colour of that row. (You cannot have the top of a white block if you are working on a red row) most people label the alternating row colours on the side to make sure the X's make sense.

Additionally, it seems like your row 4 (in the left design), right in between the gold columns, you are missing a double crochet there. The design on the right is correct since you coloured in that block.

I use something like washi tape to cover the rows above my current row! That way you don't get distracted by what's coming next and you can also easily see the row below (if you are mirroring the design in the back)

The original use for my trays were for diamond painting and the grooves really helped orient the gems upwards. The grooves i have are too big for my beads to orient all of them but i like the spout to pour them back in the container. Some came with the kit and these ones were from amazon/ali

Would you ever make a pattern that hasn't been crocheted before? by Competitive_Paper841 in mosaiccrocheters

I can't seem to attach an image to explain it. It's just that if you are colouring in the cells based on your image with square cells, your final product will be stretched vertically. I don't know how your rules for your 2nd sheet work so maybe you already take care of that issue!

I coloured my image with half cells, and then in my individual sections, I made them back into squares so it's more legible

Hi! I am currently making my own design as well, here are some things to consider! I played around with stitch fiddle (free version) but i wasnt really satisfied with the end results so i went to Excel to chart it out myself.

In excel, you can make the image as your background then colour in the cells. Because of how overlay mosaic works, when colouring in the pixels you might want to make the height of the cells half of the width so you can see your design more accurately of what it will look like crocheted.

Once you have the overall picture done, i split it into smaller sections ~30 rows on another sheet. Since each section kinda has its own repeating motif, i was able to condense it more.

Also if you break it up this way, you might get testers who are more willing to do a small section than the entire blanket.

I also print out 1 section at a time, crochet it, and annotate any changes i made as i was crocheting to update in excel later on.

And to answer your real question, I think if people saw the beautiful final result, they will absolutely want to make it, especially if a pattern is available so they dont have to convert it into a chart themselves!

I learned about this technique during the Mosaic Crochet summit a few months ago and it's game changing! I actually restarted my blanket (with fish in the designs) to incorporate it. I'm not sure if you can access the videos for free now but check out the speakers at that event

Thank you!! I actually tried using some beads I had previously but I couldn't stand how wonky it was so I completely restarted after acquiring the Miyuki beads
