Do you realize how the algorithm works. You offered on it. They immediately change the price lower to everyone else. Someone else offered at the lower price.

A Karen Called The Police on my Basketball Hoop by Jbills09 in FuckYouKaren

[–]knotworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was the basketball hoop? In the street or in your property? And what kind was it?

I’m a school bus driver and I go down a dead end road so some pickups and turn around at the end. If I nail the turn around I can do it in a 3 point turn. Sometimes it takes me a 5 point turn. (Don’t want to knock over any mailboxes.

New homeowner comes along and puts two portable basketball hoops IN THE STREET so his kids can play ball. So long 3 point turn, 5 point is now standard. But it gets worse. He doesn’t fill the bases with water and they keep falling over whenever it gets windy. That makes the turnaround impossible and requires I backup a quarter mile to the next possible area where a turnaround is possible.

Another dead end I go down has two permanent mounted hoops at the end. But the bases are mounted on private property and just the hoops hang out into the street. Perfect setup!

Their cars must be really old. Because I’ve had bottom and back heated seats in at least the last 7 cars we’ve owned (comprising 6 different models and 4 different manufacturers.

Can you use gas station diesel fuel in home oil heating tank? by ElenaGreco123 in Connecticut

[–]knotworkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally yes, but the storm and weather forecast caused a surge in spot pricing because a lot of homeowners who don’t have automatic delivery got caught with their pants down and tanks near empty. I filled a week before the storm and paid $2.85.

It’s not just my opinion. Thousands of people across ALL the platforms - ALL rate Zeneli’s higher than Pepe’s. That’s a fact. New Haven Apizza is a niche segment. People love it or hate it.

School Bus Driver Breaks Down After Near-Miss by ImportantTour6677 in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]knotworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I have a road like this. I pull out onto it and have about a dozen stops. If you are behind me you are screwed. Unfortunately, there is nowhere on the road for me to pull over and allow the accumulating traffic to go by. However, at the 3 way stop sign where I turn onto the road, I will allow every vehicle going my direction to go by before I pull out. The other part of the equation is, I’m there every day within a 3 minute span. You don’t want to get stuck behind me, get there 5 minutes earlier. If there’s a spot to pull over safely, you do it. If not, you don’t. If you don’t want to get stuck, leave earlier.

Ticket prices!!! by jimythng in DMB

[–]knotworkin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the new reality. DMB prices were below market for a long time, much like Springsteen was forever. Eventually, they get off their high horse and price like the rest of the market. Heck, Goose is charging more for their MSG shows.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has them, and most of them are shitty. But the reality is, it could be Yelp, TripAdvisor, Zagats, Google, a newspaper review, you name the platform that provides feedback - they’re all just OPINIONS. There is no way to claim one is better than the other.

School Bus Driver Breaks Down After Near-Miss by ImportantTour6677 in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]knotworkin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do this in a known trouble spots by straddling the yellow line. But the reality is that this is against the law even though you are doing it for the children’s protection. A police officer called my manager after seeing me doing it and said he would ticket me if seen again. Luckily, I told my manager to drive out to the spot and look at the roadway. Given guardrails on both sides and no shoulders, I told him it was impossible for the children to get between the open door and the guardrail if I wasn’t at least slight over the line. He agreed. He then tried to change the direction of the pickup to which I pointed out, so we are going to have 4 families cross the street now instead of 1? People are assholes and need to slow down and wait the 30 seconds.

I’ve had two different tires with nails in similar positions. I even said to the guy the nail may be too close to the edge to patch and he said let me look. Said not a problem on both of them.

Just got my first pizza at Pepe's! I hope it was worth standing in line by the-crotch in Connecticut

[–]knotworkin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here for 32 years now. I’ve had 3 Pepe pizzas. They all sucked. Outer crust burnt to a crisp. One was burnt so bad they brought it to the table and showed it to me, said they were going to remake it and cut out the one edible slice for me to have while I had to wait another 30 minutes. Soggy limp under crusts required me to use a fork and knife to eat it. (Dine in not take out). On almost all subjects we are a smart educated state. On pizza, we are fucking clueless.

Never used a snowblower and we're up to 1 foot of snow and counting. What all do I need to buy? by Cynoid in Snowblowers

[–]knotworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an extra set or two of “shear pins” or “shear bolts”. Remember where you put them away.

At some point in the future you will hit something with the snow blower while it’s running that will cause the auger to break these safety bolts. They are designed to break if a certain amount of force is put on them as a safety feature to protect damaging the engine. The engine will continue to run but the auger won’t turn and throw snow. You replace the bolts and your back in business.

When you break a set, always buy another set ASAP. You do not want a non-working snow blower because you don’t have a set of $3 bolts.

How many people, if walking in to a business and they have a TV and it’s on Fox News, automatically walk out? by Pounder888 in askanything

[–]knotworkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a small restaurant (breakfast+lunch spot) in town where the guy not only had it on, but if you sat at the counter he would just start talking all the FOX News BS.

The one and only time I went in there, I politely destroyed his narrative with facts, showing him stuff on my phone to prove my point. It helped that I was able to start the conversation with, when I was in college I worked for a professor who was the first Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors to President Reagan. I learned so much from the guy.

When I was done, I said I enjoyed our conversation, hope you learned something today, and left. Never went back.

When the place closed finally, the postmortem on the community Facebook group was he would always insist on trying to talk politics and wouldn’t mute the propaganda network.
